Could a Recession Hurt HDTV Sales?
Economists expect the U.S. fall into recession this year.
If so, the economic slowdown means a decrease in sales of high-definition TV?
The turnover for the year in Super Bowl could be the answer.
The Consumer Electronics Association says approximately 2-2.5 million High-Definition series has been designed specifically for the game in recent years. Trade is the estimate that the group of 2.4 million 'Super Bowl' sets will be sold before the game this year, which will be played Sunday.
The Super Bowl, that over one billion people around the world, has become an excuse to buy a new TV. The game has become a focal point for the quarter and other events.
Some analysts are not so sure that high definition is the usual Super Bowl bounce time this year 's. Concerned about layoffs and other problems caused by economic slowdown, consumers may hesitate to shell out thousands of dollars for a new TV.
