Best of the Rest (5.15.09)

There's a load of great tech news happening out there every day, and, unfortunately, we just can't cover it all. Here are a few of the other noteworthy things we saw today on our never-ending journey through the wild, wild Web.
  • Dating sites like match.com or okcupid are so last year. Flirt140 is bringing online dating to the Twitter generation -- use it to tweet your way to a date this weekend in 140 characters or less. [flirt140]
  • McDonald's was never really a meeting place for the blog-o-rati, everything changed when Mickey D's started offering free Wi-Fi in its restaurants -- now people don't want to leave. [ITnews]
  • Ridley Scott's 'Blade Runner' is one of the most iconic movies in sci-fi history. Harrison Ford's replicant-retiring pistol is equally iconic, and the original prop sold for $258,750 in an auction this week. [metafilter]
  • If you've ever wanted to see a boatload of Web celebrities (everyone from Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak to Digg founder Kevin Rose) gathered together in a video to celebrate geekdom (and apparently, help save the world), check out this video, from the Society for Geek Advancement.
