Ashton Kutcher Pranks CNN Over Twitter Triumph

Accompanied by a film crew that was broadcasting the event live on the Internet, Kutcher and his band of followers met in Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park. During the race with CNN, Kutcher had also promised to "ding-dong-ditch" founder Ted Turner's house, but because the billionaire lacks easily-accessible doorbells, the former star of 'That '70s Show' and his "tweeps" (Kutcher-slang for Twitter peeps) settled for leaving 800 boxes of Ding Dong snack cakes in front of a Ted's Montana Grill (the restaurant chain owned by the media mogul).
Kutcher challenged CNN to a Twitter popularity contest back in April to see which user could make history by reaching one million followers on the micro-blogging site. The race came down to the wire, but Kutcher was victorious, proving that celebrity gossip and Demi Moore trumps world news and Anderson Cooper any day. [From: CNN]

I am so stupid... I watch "That 70's Show" sometimes at night before I go to sleep. Oh and "Dude Where's my Car" once back in like 04 or something.

I agree that Ashton is stupid (so is Will Ferrell for that matter) but stupid or not they have more money than most of us will ever see. That's what irritates me. Stupidity these days apparently equals fame and fortune.

How embarassing, time for CNN to pack it up and shut shop. It is routine that they get trounced by Fox in the ratings, but to be unable to beat a B rate actor in a popularity contest, that speaks volumes for the brand of "news" they are trying to sell. CNN can take hypothetical consolation in that if MSNBC had of been the challanged Ashton Kutcher would be in his eighties by the time they reached 10,000 tweets

Speaking of Fox News, how's Hannity doing with that waterboarding promise he made. Not yet, huh? Typical Faux News liar.

I honestly believe my 15 year old nephew is more mature than this guy. I have yet to see anything about him in the media that impresses me. Of all the things a human being could do in this world that might do some good for someone, he has to spend his time pulling a prank on a national network. If this is how this guy gets his kicks I feel very sorry for him. I wonder if he's going to be one of these men who NEVER grow up. Somehow I have a feeling he will be. But, I guess he doesn't have to, after all, he has a sugar mama keeping him. Guess this is what he was looking for when he got married. He has a wife and a mother all rolled into one. I wonder if he thinks this prank makes him look important? After all, it's a great contribution to mankind to have a million twitters. Of course all the great minds of this world can't live without twittering in their life. Fact is, the great minds of this world probably have never heard of twitter, let alone sent one. I hope he got some joy out of this because it certainly didn't do anything for the rest of the world.

Ok... Stop for a second and really realize what you are saying. He may be an attention whore and a goof ball, but take into consideration the amount of social activism and charity work this guy has done. Plenty! He is a good guy for doing so! But I bet you didn't know that about him now did you? I don't blame you for not knowing. It isn't like the media really looks for optimistic stories about celebrities anyways. I know this because I have met him at a fundraiser for cancer society back in 07'. He is a smart and crazy fellow from what I can remember. Just because he doesn't meet your standards for you to be "impressed" doesn't mean he isn't a good guy.

What does Ashton and CNN have in common? They are both Irrelevant and pain in my a**
rashasbetterMay 14th 2009 5:41PM
Well duh CNN lost. Ashton is popular with the younger crowds. People 5 times more likely to have a twitter account. CNN is popular among the older crowd. All of Ashtons fans are on the internet, but not everyone that watches CNN is immature enough to have a twitter account.
jmoney1789May 14th 2009 11:04PM
ha funny considering that the people that use twitter are older "mature" people. A lot of teenagers and people in their 20's don't have an idea what twitter is.
