Okay, we realize that the Martin jetpack prototype isn't actually jet-powered (or even a pack, really), but it still gets us excited to see a human being floating around like that -- even if it is just in a parking garage.

Sony Ericsson Says PlayStation Phone Could Happen
Could we be seeing a PlayStation phone in the near future? We think an advanced PlayStationPortable-type phone could really give the iPhone a run for its money, and Sony Ericsson president Hideki "Handsome Dick" Komiyama recently told Financial Times that a PSPphone could happen.

Art and Cassette Tapes
It's Friday, so there's no excuse not to take a little art break on the eve of the weekend. For that, we recommend checking out artist iri5's Flickr collection of music artwork that uses torn-apart cassette tapes. The collection is called "Ghost in the Machine," and it's truly beautiful work.



Robotic Hand Uses Compressed Air For a Soft Touch
Virginia Tech's Robotics and Mechanisms Laboratory has designed and built an advanced robotic hand uses compressed air to operate. This allows the hand to vary its grip between heavy, solid objects and light, delicate things like eggs.

New Cute Cleaning Bot
Panasonic debuted a new robot cleaner at the Tokyo Fiber Senseware Expo, and it inches around the floor detecting dirt and picking up dust with its nanofiber polyester fabric covering. It's part cute, part unnerving. Check out the video of the little guy in action, here.
