Traditionalists might balk, but the holiday shopping season is already underway. Skeptical? Head to your local department store and you'll be inundated by Christmas trees and ornaments. Bargain hunters, though, know that the real deals are more than a month away.
Black Friday, traditionally, is when retailers truly slash prices. Early birds can save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars off of their holiday bills. Switched.com checked with a few elves, who gave a sneak peek at what you can expect deal-wise this year.
Blu-ray Players and Movies: Blu-ray is shaping up to be the biggest door buster of this year's Black Friday. de Grandpre expects at least one retailer will offer a Blu-ray player for just $49. Look for bargains on Blu-ray films as well, with last year's hit titles (such as "Iron Man") to fall as low as $5.
Laptops: With the proliferation of Netbooks this year, it's never been easier to find affordable portable computing, but Dan de Grandpre, CEO of DealNews.com says it will get even cheaper on Black Friday. Look for well-equipped Netbooks to sell for $199 – and basic 15" laptops to go for as little as $249.
HDTVs (Pretty big): The holidays are typically the best time to buy a new TV – and Black Friday is the time to do it. If you're looking for a normal sized set, you're in luck. Piper Jaffrey analyst Mitch Kaiser says he expects to see 32-inch LCD sets for as low as $299. GottaDeal.com is estimating 37-inch plasma and LCD sets will fall to $399 or less.
HDTVs (Really big): Need something bigger? How about a 46-47 inch LCD set for $599 – a 25 percent savings? Or a 52-inch LCD for $999? Dealnews says you can expect both. Plasma deals will be a little harder to come by, but a 50-inch set should run roughly $899.
HD Camcorders: You've wanted to shoot your child's school play in HD for a while, but haven't been able to spring for the pricey camcorder. This might be the year. Low-end, flash-based 720p models could drop as low as $60 (though you won't be able to zoom with those). Expect a high quality 1080p HD camcorder for $349.
GPS: While navigation systems have dramatically expanded their reach this year – even making it onto the iPhone – there's still a market for car-based systems. Dealnews predicts you'll be able to find a no-name entry-level system for $49, while a Garmin or Tom-Tom brand will be as low as $69.
Digital Picture Frames: Showcasing your digital pictures consistently gets cheaper. This year, skip the 7-inch screens and focus on the 8- or 9-inch ones, which should be available on Black Friday for as little as $30.
Monitors: Computer monitors might not be the sexiest of gifts, but they're usually welcomed with open arms – and they'll be cheap this year. Name brand 22-inch LCD models may go for as low as $99, while 24-inch models will drop below $150.
Memory: Don't know anyone who needs a monitor? External hard drives are always popular, since they're an easy way to back-up data. Dealnews expects a 1TB drive to fall as low as $49 this year. Gottadeal is looking for 8GB flash drives to hit $15.

I would have to say in a public restroom, or any place no one is talking so your conversation is the only one being heard.. i.e. the library, the shuttle to campus, in line voting (the crazy ass lady was talking to her doctor about vagina issues),

A waiting room... I HATE that!!
I'm sitting there, waiting, maybe reading a magazine, and some idiot is sitting across from me talking on his cell, loud and clear! You try to ignore them, but you can't even concentrate on the magazine. Next thing you know, you're gritting your teeth trying to decide if you should keep pretending to read or just sit and glare at the guy until he either hangs up ar goes outside or in the hallway.

I hate someone call me when I sleep. And the business call on my vacation.

When I've just paid $7 to watch a first-run movie, and some nit-wit is talking on his cell, I just say, in a loud voice, "Why don't you just shut the F**K up, and let us enjoy the film?
It works every time. You'll see. . .

I did actually hear someone on the pot in a pulic restroom in a restaurant on their cell phone last night. They were in there forever! But the rudest place I ever saw someone use their cell phone was at a viewing for the their dead grandmother. He was looking at some pictures that were on display next to her coffin when he got a phone call and was talking loudly on the phone in front of all the mourners. Tacky.

Anywhere that you are supposed to be part of a conversation. I don't care if you're ordering fast food or checking out at the grocery store. It's very rude to keep jacking your jaw, do hand motions to the poor person trying to decypher your mime impression, is annoying as HELL to the people in line behind you. I think if you're SOOO important you can't wait the 5 minute (tops) that it takes to get on with it then maybe you should finish your converatsion elsewhere & then go to the service person when you can at least give them that long to be acknowledged as a breathing unit that rates a bit more respect than that. Let alone I have seen people actually get mad because their da&* order was wrong bnut had the phone stuck to their head the whole time they were ordering so my money's on them for getting the order wrong.
Another one, I ride a motorcycle & ppl scare the CRAP outta me whenm they are on the stuipid phone & oblivious to others around them. I've had people pull out in front of me b/c they are holding the phone to, say the right ear gabbing & they do a half assed look to the right but their head doesn't seem to turn left at that time & out they go. Same with lane changes. And then they get mad when there are FINALLY enough wrecks they are not permitted to use it while driving but in the meantime every man / woman for themselves whether walking, biking, cyling, driving, even the cops have one stuck to their heads so how good of attention are they paying to what's going on?
Like my helment sticker says, "Hang up your cell phone & DRIVE!" I saw another one that asked, "I wonder if you'd drive any better with that cell phone shoved...." fill in the blanks... lol!!!!

The absolutly worst place I have seen was in the Dept. of Social Services here in NY. Anyone who is unfortunate enough to have been in DSS knows how "nasty" it can be. So, here is a guy on his cell, at the window of the person he is trying to get food stamps from, and he is ignoring her, and talking on his cell. Not once, but got 2 calls and made her wait...real bad idea....
As you can imagine, he left empty handed, threw his paper work in the trash and cursed all the way out. Can not say that it did not please me!!

Hahaha... I sing loud next to people like this. Smart one pick up on the clue and end their conversations. The ones that say something to me.... I tell them
" I don't want to hear your conversation any more than you want to hear me sing "
(and its usually an annoying kids song or a Christmas carol)
