New Facebook Phishing Scam Will Hijack Your Account

This recent phishing attack has made its way across Facebook by leading users to a convincing looking -- but fake -- Facebook log-in screen. If you enter your information, the scam site then locks you out of your account and sends the original message out to all your friends. Fortunately, at present time, it doesn't look like there is any additional malicious payload, which means no virus or no spyware. It's just account hijacking for the sake of it.

Facebook has already blocked the address, which should put an end to the annoyance, but some users are still locked out of their accounts until Facebook finishes cleaning up the mess.
The best way to avoid such attacks, as we always say, is using common sense. Don't follow links or open files from people and addresses you don't trust, and never enter passwords or other sensitive information in a page unless you're sure the site is secure. And always check the URL to make sure you're on the site you think you are. [From: Mashable]
Weirdest Techie Heists and Scams
Elderly Amish Man Caught on Film With Prostitute, Blackmailed
When a 75-year-old Amish widower slept with a prostitute, he -- we feel certain -- felt pretty bad about it the next morning. As if that guilt weren't enough for the old man, the prostitute and her boyfriend demanded $67,000 from him, claiming that they had filmed the scene with wall-mounted cameras and would upload the recording to the Internet. The pair was later arrested and, we can only imagine, the Amish man abhorred technology more than ever.
Bank Robber Gets Away With the Help of Craiglist
In October, a bank robber -- wearing a safety vest, blue shirt, face mask and goggles -- eluded police with the help of Craiglist. Just outside the bank, while the robbery was in progress, stood a group of men who were responding to a Craiglist day labor opportunity. As the advertisement required, they were all wearing safety vests, blue shirts, face masks and goggles.
Nude New Zealander Arrested After Responding to Fake Sexy Text Message
Late in 2007, a Wellington, New Zealand man received a racy text message from two anonymous "ladies," giving him only an address and a request that he show up naked. Well, he indeed showed up naked... at the home of one appalled, unsuspecting New Zealander. Both the nude Romeo and the sadistic texter were arrested, though neither were prosecuted.
Fake Craiglist Ad Costs Man Most of What He Owns
Last Spring, a post appeared on an Oregon Craigslist board stating that the owner of a specific house was leaving all of his worldly possessions (still in said house) to whoever wanted them. When homeowner Robert Salisbury rushed home -- on a tip from a woman suspicious about the offer of a free horse -- he found his house being ransacked by 30 strangers. We suggest he take that horse and collect some vengeance Clint Eastwood-style.
17-Year-Old Jailed for Stealing Virtual 'Furniture'
When a 17-year-old Dutch boy hacked into several accounts on the Second Life-style site 'Habbo' in 2007, the the law got involved. The boy was discovered to have stolen $5,800 worth of virtual furniture and knick-knacks. Apparently, crime -- whether actual or virtual -- does not pay.
Phishers Going After Your Phones in New 'Vishing' Trend
Over the past year, sneaky spammers have begun to forsake the worn-out territory of e-mail in favor of cell phones' fertile frontier. The result? "Vishing." Get it? Voice mail + phishing. It might be more ominous if it didn't sound like a James Bond villain saying, "Wishing."
Burglars Break Into Restaurant, Steal HDTV, Leave Money / Food Behind
Around Halloween of last year, a truckload of thieves drove into -- that's right, into -- a Pennsylvania Mexican restaurant, where they -- apparently uninterested in the cash register -- stole a mid-grade 47-inch HDTV and fled the scene. We've all heard about how this generation is lacking in ambition, but this generation's thieves, too?

huh? you had to select the little check box to send invites to your friends(on email of course).
My old computer teacher(from a loooonnnnnggg time ago) said that everything you do on a computer requires(d) some sort of interaction from the user. That being said, always read everything on each webpage, especially the fine print and URLs.

I received another message from a friend that looks suspicious. The message is called
junglemix.nt
After what happened with the fbstarter.com incident, I didn't open this message either. I don't know if it's another one going around, so I just thought I would alert everyone.

What about this one? The IQ Test that pops up, and in the way of what you are doing. It puts your own friends' photos on screen and puts an IQ score on their photo, rather right by it , when these friends have never taken the test, as I have asked them. They just said, don't take it! I am not, but one day I clicked on to something that I was doing and they had their space sneaked in there where you would just about atomatically click, so I did, And then there I was and then they
sent me a text to give me a key code, and they then texted me with the pin number. Then, they told me I would be charged $9.?? a month. I nearly never got out of there. Why are they on there. It is very rude the way it just pops up over
what you may be doing? Do people join this and if so what is it for?

There are many scams out there. The one thing everyone needs to REMEMBER is something that every internet service tells you from the get go. No internet service or legitimate company will ask you for any personal info or inform you of any problem like that through an email and definately not with links you have to follow. Now, there is an even bigger scam out there that is getting a whole lot more victims than this one and its not advertised openly like this is those who tell you to sign up for thier program or buy our product and its free all you pay is for shipping and handling. Now when hearing that, what most don't do is to read the terms and conditions. If they did they would see that in tiny print (of course) is an agreement that "yes", the $1.97 is for the shipping, however unless you are aware of this and cancel the membership within the designated time frame, your credit card will be charged monthly a heavy fee. I have seen as low as $29.00 and as high as $79.99. And sometimes they don't even have a shipping fee. They say its just free and the terms and conditions state they have the right to charge your phone company bill a monthly charge -- same deal. There are just too many ways to rip people off legally anymore. No matter how good you are at spotting scams, or at least think you are. Unless you are just as scrupulous as they are, you are not going to catch them all. You are just as vulnerable as the next guy. My advice is read EVERYTHING very closely and then re-read before you click on anything. And anytime a company tells you through an email that their company has been compromised in anyway, always verify with the company before you click on anything you have received through email.

This MISTAKE is being repeated over and over in SWITCHED, and the way it continues to incorrectly be published, suggests that it may never be corrected,......... In the pics under "Jobs and Gates, when they were young," the picture captioned "Gates and Wozniak show off the Apple I in 1976" does NOT include Bill Gates. It's "Wozniak and JOBS." It's the 2nd picture in that category. This is the 3rd time it's been presented on your site -- and it's time you corrected it. I HOPE you're able to correct it; a techno site like you guys have should be able to do something this simple, right? :-)

dont worry obama and his administration are on it. they will make the world safe from this kind of stuff. with the government soon to run everything they will be in control of what we do and what we say. they will stop these other scammers because if they didnt then it would mean they weren't in total control. on another note...everyone should just go out and get a new social security number ...any number will do since if you didnt know it was someone elses number you cant be in trouble. that is what our supreme courthas said. and its not just for illegals like they would lead you to believe...it puts a damper on ALL identity theft. isnt this great..our government working so hard to make this a better and safer world..ALL YOU STUPID SELF ABSORBED LIBERALS WHO CARE OF NOTHING AND NOBODY BUT YOURSELVES...THANKS ALOT FOR THIS TRAVISTY OF A PRESIDENT AND HIS ADMINISTRATION.

This issue has spilled over into aol and you tube. Aol is so hacked that I'm surprised they still function. And YouTube is equally dismembered. No Joke, I currently have all of the logo's and templates within my system files
(stationery) and cannot be deleted. One way to tell if you are on a hacked URL is that the data (headlines and
major news stories or even the side ads) does not get updated as timely as a unhacked page. Most of the ultra
undeletable files Are connected with somebody in China. He refuses to leave my system. I can't delete his fonts
either.
