I was standing about, maybe 50-100ft. away from him. After a few minutes or so, he started yelling at the top of his lungs to whom ever was on the other line, using every profanity word in the English language, while parents with children nearby, just stood and watched with shock. Yet, not one area of this store was immune from not hearing this. Needless to say, he was arrested and hauled off to a cheering crowd.

Randall

Comments on Is It Rude To Talk On Your Cellphone While Waiting in Line?

Arrested? For speaking too loudly on his cell phone, or the cursing part? What part of the country do you live, I might have to move to where sanity is still alive and well! LOL

I do feel your pain, I've had the same issue whether it's a grocery store or a fabric store. If I'm trying to THINK about what I need and how much, these loud-mouthed idiots just about drive me to the brink. I've had fantasies as to where I'd like to stick their cell phones. I've tried glaring at them and they ask me what MY problem is. I am not saying it is ok to talk on a cell phone anywhere you want (movie theatre, church, live indoor performance) but I see no problem with standing in line at the store talking, provided that you keep your voice down to where the entire store doesn't hear you. If the person on the other end makes you upset, remember that you are amongst other people and either keep your cool or hang up so your phone call doesn't become everyone's one sided phone call.

kyliesdad0404

Comments on Is It Rude To Talk On Your Cellphone While Waiting in Line?

No unless your driving your car I find this very dangerous. You can not concentrate on your driving when your mine is else where thinking about what your saying. Statistics are showing more and more accidents happen while the driver is on their cell phone A LAW MUST BE PASSED JUST LIKE THE LAW TO WEAR YOUR SEAT BELTS people were forced to and it is saving lives yours wether you like it or not. STOP TALKING ON YOUR PHONE IN A MOVING VEHICLE IT IS A MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH. Other places depends i do not need to hear the great time you had last night, nor do my kids need to hear how nasty you are. Keep it short and sweet around others. I DO NOT TALK ON MY CELL PHONE WHILE I DRIVE EVER !!!!! THE PERSON YOU KILL MAY BE ME. / elle

Ellen Hayes

Comments on Is It Rude To Talk On Your Cellphone While Waiting in Line?

Yes it's rude, mainly because I have yet to hear someone talking on their cell phone in a QUIET, discrete manny. Usually, they talk as though everyone within earshot MUST be interested in what they have to say. I've been in a Borders bookstore and a guy was on the OPPOSITE side of the shop and I could hear every word so loudly that I couldn't even think. I especially love the idiots that talk loudly and endlessly in doctor's waiting rooms...it's especially interesting when they discuss WHY they are there. If the party on the other end of the line makes the call short, does the cell phone user put the phone away? HECK NO!! They just go through their speed dial and find someone else to talk about NOTHING with! In the meantime, some people might wish to fill out forms, or read without hearing about someone's strange rash or yeast infection. Cell phone users, you are just like those people that sit in their cars and pick their noses like no one can see you. We can hear you. You're rude, and tired of listening to your endless noise pollution. Too bad Al Gore doesn't get a tax going on all that CO2 you're blowing!

jpclarksville

Comments on Is It Rude To Talk On Your Cellphone While Waiting in Line?

"I especially love the idiots that talk loudly and endlessly in doctor's waiting rooms...http://www.vcao.net it's especially interesting when they discuss WHY they are there"

vcao
