Is It Rude To Talk On Your Cellphone While Waiting in Line?
What about talking on your phone in a public restroom?
What do you think?

Definitely not rooting for that hoity toity Pekingese, that's for damn sure. #Westminster
I'm, like, okay with being a little crazy.
The time, energy, words, weight lost, nails bitten, scabs picked and nights I've struggled thru for this are easy to judge from afar, right?

Personally, I think it's rude anywhere you are, with the exception of your own personal space, whether it be your home, or car.
Case in point: One day while at a supermarket, during the time of day when everyone in the world seems to be there at the sametime, I was pondering what to make for dinner, when a man answered his cell phone just down the isle from me. I was standing about, maybe 50-100ft. away from him. After a few minutes or so, he started yelling at the top of his lungs to whom ever was on the other line, using every profanity word in the English language, while parents with children nearby, just stood and watched with shock. Yet, not one area of this store was immune from not hearing this. Needless to say, he was arrested and hauled off to a cheering crowd.

Arrested? For speaking too loudly on his cell phone, or the cursing part? What part of the country do you live, I might have to move to where sanity is still alive and well! LOL
I do feel your pain, I've had the same issue whether it's a grocery store or a fabric store. If I'm trying to THINK about what I need and how much, these loud-mouthed idiots just about drive me to the brink. I've had fantasies as to where I'd like to stick their cell phones. I've tried glaring at them and they ask me what MY problem is. Like it's MY fault they have no manners.

What's the difference between talking on a phone and talking with a person next to you, assuming volume level is the same?
I think loud talking is rude, but just being on a cell phone isn't.

Just keep their voices down that's all. Everyone shouldn't be listening in. I get annoyed when they act as though "I'm" easedropping. I don't get it, there was a time that people didn't want everyone listening in.

Cell phone jammers are a Godsend. Please get a CELL PHONE JAMMER if you can.

As long as you keep your voice down and conversation short it's no problem. Before I got a cell phone I couldn't understand why people must talk on the go, now I see why. These things are time savers and so much more. Conversations used to bother me, now I'm used to it.

i don't really think it's rude as long as their not yelling or cursing or talking about stuff that could be inappropriate for people around (i.e. kids). it doesn't bother me if they do. i do have a hard time not ease dropping though if they are right beside me and talking, but i guess it's on them if they didn't want anyone else to hear.

no it's rarely ever rude unless it's disruptive.
and home and car? that's silly. you'd use your home phone in the car, and some states forbid talking on the phone while driving, not to mention IT IS dangerous.
perhaps those who think it's rude are those who have all the time in the world. but for busy people, talking on the phone on the go is ok.
you talk to people on the go, in the streets, in the bathoom, waiting in line, in the restaurant. as long as you are not yelling or using profanity/being rude on the phone then it's okay.
the point of a cell phone IS to talk on the go. otherwise you have home phone or work phone.

The word is eavesdropping, not easedropping.

Talking on a cell phone is not rude, it is what the people around the person on the phone hear that may be rude. I am not saying it is ok to talk on a cell phone anywhere you want (movie theatre, church, live indoor performance) but I see no problem with standing in line at the store talking, provided that you keep your voice down to where the entire store doesn't hear you. If the person on the other end makes you upset, remember that you are amongst other people and either keep your cool or hang up so your phone call doesn't become everyone's one sided phone call.

No unless your driving your car I find this very dangerous. You can not concentrate on your driving when your mine is else where thinking about what your saying. Statistics are showing more and more accidents happen while the driver is on their cell phone A LAW MUST BE PASSED JUST LIKE THE LAW TO WEAR YOUR SEAT BELTS people were forced to and it is saving lives yours wether you like it or not. STOP TALKING ON YOUR PHONE IN A MOVING VEHICLE IT IS A MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH. Other places depends i do not need to hear the great time you had last night, nor do my kids need to hear how nasty you are. Keep it short and sweet around others. I DO NOT TALK ON MY CELL PHONE WHILE I DRIVE EVER !!!!! THE PERSON YOU KILL MAY BE ME. / elle

Yes it's rude, mainly because I have yet to hear someone talking on their cell phone in a QUIET, discrete manny. Usually, they talk as though everyone within earshot MUST be interested in what they have to say. I've been in a Borders bookstore and a guy was on the OPPOSITE side of the shop and I could hear every word so loudly that I couldn't even think. I especially love the idiots that talk loudly and endlessly in doctor's waiting rooms...it's especially interesting when they discuss WHY they are there. If the party on the other end of the line makes the call short, does the cell phone user put the phone away? HECK NO!! They just go through their speed dial and find someone else to talk about NOTHING with! In the meantime, some people might wish to fill out forms, or read without hearing about someone's strange rash or yeast infection. Cell phone users, you are just like those people that sit in their cars and pick their noses like no one can see you. We can hear you. You're rude, and tired of listening to your endless noise pollution. Too bad Al Gore doesn't get a tax going on all that CO2 you're blowing!
