Morning Xtra: Obama on Flickr, Old Swine Flu PSAs, Palm Pre on June 7?

An Inside Look at the Presidency's First 100 Days, on Flickr
In honor of the President Obama's first 100 days in office, the White House continues to display and uncanny level of openness and good Internet sense by offering up this retrospective Flickr stream. There's a bunch of great behind-the-scenes shots, and we could spend hours watching Obama tossing a football in the Oval Office, or the first family playing on the White House's new swing set. Palm Pre To Be Released June 7th?
The much-anticipated Palm Pre smartphone has been dubbed an "iPhone killer," but the device has yet to come to market, despite a promised release date in the first half of 2009. As that release window narrows, we've just hear some new rumors from Mobile Crunch that Palm will finally unleash the Pre on June 7, one day before Apple is expected to announce the latest version of its iPhone at the Worldwide Developers Conference. It looks like the makings of a serious showdown... [From: MobileCrunch]

Vintage Swine Flu PSA's From 1976's Outbreak
Apparently, Swine Flu is old news... BoingBoing dug up these old Swine Flu public service announcements from 1976, when an outbreak of the disease prompted mass fear of a pandemic and jarred the government into issuing controversial inoculations that may have killed more people than they saved. iStoryTime for the iPhone Makes Story Time for Kids Automatic

Thanks to a plethora of apps, your iPhone can do just about anything; now, it will even read to your kids. The new iStoryTime app offers a series of illustrated and narrated children's books on your iPhone/iPod Touch, so putting the kids to bed is as easy as giving them your iPhone for an hour or so. We're usually suckers for kids technology, but we think the world might be a better place if parents read to their kids more often. Still, when they release "Goodnight Moon" on the app, we might be sucked in. [From: MacTech]

Stock Ford Fusion Hybrid Does 1,000+ Miles On One Tank of Gas
In an attempt to prove that fuel efficiency is as much in the hands of a driver as it is under the hood, Ford sponsored a team led by NASCAR driver Carl Edwards to try to drive a factory-stock Ford Fusion hybrid 1,000 miles on a single tank of gas. According to our friends at Autoblog, the team succeed easily, averaging over 80 miles per gallon and breaking the 1,000 mile mark with a third of a tank to spare. [From: Autoblog]

Supreme Court Says No to Live TV Expletives
The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the FCC, stating that fleeting expletives in live broadcasts -- such as those infamously uttered by Cher and Nicole Richie at the Billboard Music Awards -- can be legally banned and that the station responsible for their airing can be subject to sanctions by the FCC (read: fined, big time). This ruling marks the first time in 30 years that the Supreme Court has issued judgment on an indecency case -- remember George Carlin's "Seven Dirty Words? [WARNING: Link contains swearing]" [From: Ars Technica]

Got a Business Idea? Take It to Quirky.
Are we ready for open-source manufacturing? 22-year old entrepreneur Ben Kaufman seems to think so. Have an idea for a product? Kaufman's new business, called Quirky, will use his proprietary problem-solving social network Kluster to develop and manufacture your idea from start to finish, splitting the revenue along the way.
