The Daily Engadget: iPhone USB Launcher, Paper-Thin Speakers

Our friends over at Engadget obsessively cover everything new in gadgets and consumer electronics, which is why we compile this daily roundup of their top stuff (or, at least, what we think is tops). For more details on any of these stories, click on the Engadget links in each story below.

Control Your USB Missile Launcher From Your iPhone. Oh, Yes...
If you haven't seen the USB missile launcher before, then please, take some time and get yourself up to speed here. When you're finished, prepare to take your office arsenal to the next level by making the launcher wireless, thanks to this new iPhone app. We love technology.

Carnegie Mellon Gives Your Touchscreen Some Oomph
If you find your touchscreen gadget lacking in tactile feedback, you'll be delighted to hear that researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have developed a touch-display with real buttons that pop out from the surface, using an air-filled latex and projector rig to make it happen. Non-believer? Check out the video here.

Ireland Outlaws E-Voting

Electronic voting has seen some rough times with its easily compromised security and apparent unconstitutionality. It seems that Ireland has had enough, because we've gotten word that the Emerald Isle is outlawing the practice and returning to the classic paper ballot.

India Buys 250,000 OLPC Laptops; Kiss of Death for $10 Laptop Project
Always looking out for the children, India has ordered 250,000 OLPC XO laptops for 1,500 of its schools. The government plans to buy as many as three million devices this year, so we're calling this the official death knell for the saga of failure that was India's $10 laptop project.

New Flexible Paper-Thin Speakers
How cool would it be if that 'Empire Strikes Back' poster in your living room played the 'Imperial March' every time you walked by? Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute has made it a possibility; its designers have developed a paper-thin tweeter, called the Flexspeaker, that is durable enough to roll up. Scope out the video and hear it for yourself.
