Is the iPhone Coming to Verizon?
Whoa, folks, the week's barely started and already we have some big tech news. According to "people familiar with the situation," USA Today writes that Verizon and Apple have been in "high level" talks for months about developing an iPhone for the Verizon network. Although Verizon's 80 million customers would make an iPhone deal pretty attractive to Apple, this news flies in the face of Apple CEO Tim Clark's comments last week. Cook stated that Apple would keep its iPhone exclusive to AT&T, calling it the "best wireless provider in the U.S." AT&T's contract with Apple gives it exclusive rights to distribute the iPhone in the U.S. through 2010, but it sounds like we could be seeing a Verizon iPhone in 2011. As far as mobile data accessibility (e.g. surfing the Web, checking Facebook, and using e-mail), Verizon's CDMA network offers slower speeds than AT&T's 3G network. Roger Entner, head of telecom research for Nielsen, told USA Today that, despite the speed difference, Verizon's CDMA network is perceived as more reliable than AT&T's 3G network. (Either way, we think 3G is overrated, speed-wise.)
AT&T stands to lose the most if Apple ends up in bed with Verizon, because many potential customers love the iPhone but are either disappointed by AT&T or already have a contract with another carrier. Customers could be the big winners here, since Apple is likely to continue selling iPhones on the AT&T network, finally giving customers the option to choose a carrier. I would be one of the first verizon customers to buy one! I will not deal with AT&T who ilegally stole 60.00 a month from my checking for 10 months...yea i should've been reconciling my account...when i discovered this was happening and approached AT&T about it they said it was my fault for not checking my bank statement and refused to give the money back. now...can you imagine AT&T allowing you to go 10 months with cell service while not paying? They truly are thieves. I sure do want an iphone though! Apple come over from darkside and may the force be with all of us!! haha

I have been with Verizon for YEARS and NEVER had a problem, plus their customer service is excellent - my only complaint is that their phones are expensive.
EVERYONE I talk to is a Verizon customer which allows me to have a low minute plan and talk all I want. So, I'm here to stay.
I have been praying to the tech gods since last June to have the iPhone come to Verizon. If that happens, I can stop yelling at my iPod Touch - "Why can't you be a phone!! Why?!?!?"

I currently have the iPhone 3G with AT&T and I plan on purchasing the next iPhone on AT&T. With that said, I will not even consider switching to Verizon until they get LTE rolled out.

i also have an iphone with att but i was in a local verizon store the other day and asked them about picking up the iphone next year. The guy i spoke with was only a sales rep so idk how knowledgeable his sources are but he said they would be getting the iphone but it may be a while because they are waiting until their LTE is going. I guess they are trying to avoid getting the iphone 3G and then turning around and launching a new 4G phone. just thought i would put this bit of info out there.

what are you talking about. they have no signal strength. you wouldn't be able to use it anywhere. just like all of the other smart phones that sprint has. No, the best fit for the iphone (the best smart phone) is with the nations largest and best network, verizon. but only in a perfect world, right.

To heck with apple. I would love to own an iPhone on my verizon account but this playing hard to get is just annoying. It's 2009 for godsake - I should be able to use whatever phone I want with which ever carrier. Only people getting screwed are we the consumer.

Dear lord i am just waiting for the day iphone come to verizon. AT&T is the WORST provider, everything from there customer service on down was awefful when i was with them... 3G being faster??? most iphone users WISH iphone was on verizon because people say you get horrible reception and slow speeds.

the iphone should be in both (att & verizon) Why? Because there are both good companies and they both deserve the best phones
