Use Rechargeable Batteries

There's really no reason to buy disposable batteries anymore. More than 15 billion a year are thrown away, and few of them are recycled. Modern rechargables juice up fast and can last for years. AA versions from USB Cell look and work like AAs, but the tops of them fold back to reveal a USB plug, letting them charge right from your PC. For more Tech Tips, click here.

Not only should we switch to rechargeable batteries to replace disposable alkalines but consider all the cordless electronics that we use daily such as laptops, cell phones, mp3 players, digital cameras, cordless vacuums, electric toothbrush, electric razors. And many more helpful cordless electronics like power tools, camcorders, two-way radios, just to name a few.
All these electronics are powered by rechargeable batteries too. When any of these rechargeable batteries eventually wear out (after about 1,000 charges) they can be 100% recycled for free at www.call2recycle.org. Type in your zip code to find convenient drop off locations in your neighborhood.
