Morning Xtra: Hayek E-Mail, Time Mag Hacked; Steve Jobs Grounded

Gawker's Hollywood column Defamer is reporting that actress Salma Hayek's e-mail has been hacked, revealing an in-depth look at the lifestyle of someone rich and famous. We were happy to see that she has an iPhone-app obsession like the rest of us, but some of the e-mails -- like the private driver picking her up in Dubai, the Japanese massages, and the designer clothes being delivered to her door -- are decidedly out of our league. If you are feeling voyeuristic, you can check out the screenshots here. [From: Gawker]
Space Shuttle Launch Video in High Def
There's something about a space shuttle launch that never fails to amaze us. The triumph of man over nature, the power of the human will exerted against the universe, the inimitable spirit of American ingenuity... it's all been said before. Despite our quick-to-be-jaded nature, we still get pumped up watching something that weighs 4.5 million pounds tell gravity to suck it. Check out the STS-124 launch, shot by a remote camera in high definition, here. [From: Fark]
Facebook Apathy: Users Meet Call To Vote With Resounding 'Meh'
In February, Facebook users threw a fit when the wildly popular social-networking site announced new policies involving ownership of data. Facebook took down the new changes, and the company promised to revise them and give users a chance to participate in drafting the new policies. This week, Facebook administrators launched a program that enabled its 200 million odd users to weigh in and vote on the site's new, reworked governing documents. Although the site claimed that the vote would only be binding if 60 million users voted, only about 600,000 turned out for the vote. For you math whizzes out there, that's only 1 percent. Despite the weak turnout, Facebook decided to accept the vote anyway, and it's move ahead with the new policies, which were backed by about 75-percent of those who participated. Obviously, the site is hoping for greater participation in the future. [From: Fox News and BBC]
Time Magazine Poll Ravaged By Web Pranksters
In a delightfully self-referential incident, Time Magazine's annual online poll of the top 100 most influential people in government, science, technology, and the arts has been taken over by the Internet's most notorious rabble-rousers. Exploiting an apparent lack of authentication procedures for votes, members of the online message board 4chan (which is where the Anonymous group began) used autovoting programs to overwhelm the poll with votes for "moot," which is the nom-de-guerre of 4chan administrator Christopher Poole. Steve Jobs Isn't Flying
Steve Jobs, co-founder and top dog at Apple, is currently more than four months into his medical leave of absence -- so, what has he been up to? Not flying, according to the Wall Street Journal, which dug up an Apple regulatory filing that stated that the company has not reimbursed Jobs for use of his Gulfstream private jet in the first three months of 2009. Compare that with the first quarter of last year, when Apple reimbursed him $30,000. Although these findings show Jobs' commitment to getting healthy (and not jet-setting around the world on the company dime, as other heads of industry have been doing), it also means he's been absent from big-time negotiations around the world. Chrysler 'Forgets' to Take Orders For Its New Electric Vehicle
What better time for one of the big three automakers to start taking orders for a new all-electric vehicle than Earth Day? Our friends over at Autoblog bring us news that Chrysler was supposed to begin accepting online orders on April 22nd for its new glorified golf cart, the Peapod neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV). However, as of this morning, there's still no way to place an order -- all you can do is join a mailing list. Bad news for all of you out there who are chomping at the bit to part with $12,000 in order to cruise around your neighborhood at the Peapod's 25 mph top speed. [From: Autoblog]
