Tech Tips Everyone Should Know

1) Streamline Your Startup
Programmers can be a bit egotistical, thinking that their applications must run every time you boot your computer. But most of these apps are simply a drag on your system -- slowing the startup time and sapping memory and processor cycles. Cast off this dead weight by following our instructions for disabling unnecessary startup programs on your PC or Mac.

I was unable to follow the instructions for eliminating start up programs to increase the
speed of my computer. When I hit Run, I am asked for a program. How do I get to "misconfig".
SimpleGirlApr 30th 2009 12:27PM
um, type it in...

Under the start up menu goto "Run" and when that opens type in msconfig.

Barbnel2...If all else fails, open your system's help and support menu. In the search box, type in 'System configuration' and in the results, there should be a link that will take open system config for you. You might have to read through 20+ results, but it should be there.
Hope this helps.

If you are that clueless, you probably shouldn't screw around with your PC. You might just make things worse

The suggestions lose credibility when you read "uninterpretable power supply" instead of uninterruptible. This isn't a spelling mistake, it's a whole different (and nonexistent in this case) meaning. PS to ronman189: Spoken like a true computer snob.
