11) Download Only MP3s

Audio purists may argue for fancier formats such as AAC or FLAK, but MP3 music files offer the most compatibility options for any device you might use. That means skipping the iTunes music store (which uses AAC) and going to MP3-based sites such as Amazon or eMusic. When you rip CDs, set your music software to the MP3 format (not the default in iTunes, for example), but be sure to step up from the standard 128kbps quality level to the higher-quality 256kbps level.
