We don't need to reinvent the will. In recharging Voltage= Speed, so the idea of being able to recharge in 30-60 minutes @ 220 versus 8 hours @115 is the only way to make public (non-residential, non-work) charging an acceptable to a lion share of the motoring market.  Stop in for a burger and fries, charge the car.
