Reasons to Quit Facebook

Friend requests from your needy ex or crazy uncle...
Facebook recently cracked the 200 million member mark, which is pretty incredible considering the site has only been open to the general public for three short years. With the huge influx of new members, many of them in the over-30 crowd, you're bound to get a few friend requests from crazy uncles, insane exes, and despicable acquaintances from way back when. "It's just a friend request," you'll tell yourself, and, not wanting to hurt their feelings, you'll confirm the request. A week later, once they've pestered you every day, invited you to all their stupid events, and told your parents about the pictures from your secret trip to Vegas, you'll be ready to put your computer through a wall. Fortunately, you can adjust your privacy settings for specific people, tailoring exactly what they see. So go ahead and accept that friend request from Uncle Nutso. Just be sure to set it up so all he sees is your profile picture and your favorite TV shows.

Another mean spirited missile from aol. Do the editors at aol make this stuff up? Or...have they targeted the stupid mentality that usually stalks these message boards. Whichever....I'm tunring it off.

It's a competition to see how many so-called 'friends' you have. And who really wants to look at other people's photos? Not to mention it is a time waster.

To Dee:
Someone doesn't have to directly be your friend to view your pics. If you and another facebook user share a mutual friend and that friend comments on either of your pic, both you and that other user will be able to see each other pics. If the friend comments on your pic that user will also be able to see it when it comes up on their friend's recent activity list.

To Dee once more: ladyovention is spot on! I concur with her. Well this is My 5th post on this. One other thing. I saw some married Adults that both have 5 screen names. But they are just feeding anxiety into people. We all have I.P. addresses and do not think that all of these relationship sites do not know who you are. There are no secrets in Cyberspace and .gov knows all.

I can't understand people using their complete name as their sign on. The feature allowed me to locate a friend from way back when and attempt a friend invitation. Well, that innocent invite didn't go over too big with his wife or his wound of losing me. I then realized what a monster Facebook could be. The name thing can be a dangerous exposure too. Full name? not wise, then in some of your postings or your friends posting the sick minded will know what city/town/state you live in and be able to fantasy his way to your front door. I have warned my daughter of this and have been ignored on the subject. I told her that the guy on the other side of the door won't be Prince Charming.
I joined dif groups, got invited and did inviting, mostly strangers with the same interest, but the nagging question was, what importance does Facebook, and Twitter have in my life. What value am I gaining from this stranger to stranger and sometimes friends (who live a easy drive away)(or phone call). I decided that a comment on an issue in one of the groups or fans was not enough to hold my attention, in fact it seemed empty, sad, and certainly not inspiring, except for one artist gave me, inspiration, to do another art form, which I have decided not to do because of all the interesting arts I am involved with now, that include alive friends I can hug, or bitch too.
Now I want to know, if the Facebook developer from Harvard is a buddy of the Thug President Obama. Remember the Big Brother demand for "fishy" emails or postings from AOL, to be sent to the White House. Acorn is not a social connection I care to come in contact with. Remember the Black Panthers and their clubs at the polling places in either Chicago or Detroit, we saw on the cable news......................Marxist are deadly, to freedom, education, Mfg, Banking, Healthcare.
