Reasons to Quit Facebook

Embarrassing pictures from our pasts (that we can't remove)
Facebook's most commonly used feature is photo sharing and plenty of people are uploading thousands of pics. And, thanks to a feature called "tagging," your so-called friends can put your name on these images, which makes it easy for anyone to find them. No problem if you look hot, but what if it's a picture of you passed out at a frat party in college? Sure, you can remove the tag from that photo, making it hard for folks to search for it, but you can't actually remove the photo unless your 'friend' actually takes it down. And that only stands a chance of happening if you ask. We've heard about many instances of tension created in a relationship as a result of these "take my photo down" requests. Facebook, can't you just let us remove these photos on our own?

Yep, sounds like it's time for Chad to quit Facebook. And while he's at it the rest of us will cheer because we will no longer get those annying emails from the likes of him saying "quit inviting me" or "quit poking me." If you hate FB so much, get out! To quote Angela from the office, "Some people like things." And if you don't then I will be glad to see you go.

okay now...you have a point in this one, chaddie. these photos are annoying and make people feel uncomfortable.

they should have it so that if it was tagged in it, you should also have the right to take it down as much as the person who put it up.

I don't like the idea of people being able to arbitrarily remove photos without your permission. What if they claim its a photo of them and its not?

there is a way out of this one, and again, it's all about the privacy settings. go to settings> privacy settings> profile, and change "photos tagged of you" and "videos tagged of you" to "customize." once chosen, you'll be presented with options to allow only specific friends, or the most private "only me," to see them.

Yes, the idea behind embarrassing pictures is for no-one to see it...Check your own conscious before responding.

The most common requests I get are pictures with multiple people in them, and 1 person doesn't like the shot of them, even tho the other 5 or 6 people look great! Why should they have a right to take it down? It's my photo, and I have taken a few down when asked, but some poepl are silly, wanting only perfect pix of them up there. Hogwash!!!!

I hate this about Facebook. It's user agreement indicates that whatever photos you post, they have usage rights and so does their third-party friends. That sucks and facebook sucks for it!

An old friend of mine de-tagged a photo I posted of him and it broke my heart! It was a pic of him at a party with big 80's headphones on his head and he's flipping off the camera, which is nothing compared to pictures he's posted of himself. We aren't close enough for me to ask him wtf (but yes, I still felt rejected), but I guess it should be the subject's right to request that it be taken down. If you aren't tagged, then you can't take it down. But how do you get around a group shot? If you're in a photo with, say, three other people, why should you get to take it down if the other three like it?

Blurring out, or blacking out someones face is an 1 min job in any kind photo editing program, even with the packaged "Paint" program that comes with all flavors of Windows.

Ok,
I agree that Facebook has several things wrong with it. But I happen to overall like it. But on the serious side Chad, I think you really need to lighten up and learn to have fun instead of looking at all the problems with Facebook. It just for fun anyway.

The solution to this one is simple. Facebook should allow "tagged" people the option to remove the picture. That would put a stop to people posting embarrassing pics and tagging your name so people could look it up. Are you listening Facebook staff?
