Twitter 101: Tips and Tricks

What should my first steps be?
The first thing to do is sign up. Choose a username -- something uniquely you, but not embarrassing. If it's available, try to get your real name. The next step is to start following friends and family that you can find using Twitter's contact importer, which searches your contacts on Gmail, Yahoo!, or other Web mail services for people on Twitter. If you just want to search by name, that'll work, too. Following someone is as simple as pressing the 'Follow' button on their Twitter page.
Next, it's time to create your profile. You get one image (so make it count) and 160 characters to explain who you are and what you do to the 'Twitterverse.' As you can see, we're not in Facebook-land anymore.

You've got to be kidding me. Not only am I forced to click through this stupid article, getting one "no-no" per page, but I've clicked three times and the list hasn't even started yet. I don't even know why I click these links anymore. This practice, overall, is just lazy journalism. If you can't get your hits like a normal website, maybe you shouldn't be writing articles.

I just signed up two seconds ago so,I don't even know or understand any of this yet. I just happened to see Ashton Kutcher doing it so I immediately had to find out more. I hope it's as much and more than everyone is ranting and raving about. Gee, do you think Ashton will drop me a line or even better, drop Demi?!!! I can't wait to learn more. Thank you!

I got you I got you, such excitement, something new in our lives. I am a 77 year old widow, retired many years now, where does time go, I can't belive I'm that old, sure don't feel it. Love to travel, any where, US, Europe, my own Wisconsin - also a big reader, do volunteer work and enjoy every day. Happy Days Everyone.

Remember when Too Much Information (TMI) just referred to someone telling you something personal about themselves that you didn't necessarily want to hear? Remember when an aura of mystery was an intriguing thing? Remember the Old Days, when you actually CALLED someone on their cell phone? And they would ANSWER? Or, if they didn't, you LEFT A MESSAGE and they could call you back?
