Ex Microsoft Exec Releases Awful Solo Guitar Album
Look, we all have hobbies, so we're not surprised to learn that former Microsoft executive Jim Allchin plays a little guitar in his down time. What we didn't expect was that someone smart enough to climb his way to the top of the largest software company in the world would be bold enough to release an album this terrible on the world.
Someone with a great sense of humor at Apple even put Allchin's new album 'Enigma' in the "What We're Listening To" section in iTunes, which is great for Allchin's pocket, but bad for his ego. Reviews have poured in and most sound something like this:
"This is literally one of the, if not THE, worst albums I've heard. I'd say it's the 'Ishtar' of music, but that would be doing a grave disservice to 'Ishtar'. I cringe when I hear this, and I'm at a loss for words to describe why it's so bad."
After giving most of the album a brief listen at Allchin's official Web site, we'd say the aforementioned reviewer was being too nice. Someone (probably Allchin's PR rep) called 'Enigma' "Claptonesque" in a review on iTunes, which is about as accurate as saying urine is similar to a fine wine. Sure, they're both liquid, both technically drinkable, but even if you were dying of thirst in a desert, you still probably wouldn't put one of them to your lips. [From: The Business Insider]

Can't the world just let Satch be?!

His music kind of reminds me of Steve Vai. Sorry, guitar purists, but I don't like Vai all that much.

It isn't that bad, its not good either. The guitar melody and the (endless) solo points are there. Sounds a little too late 80's, early 90's to me with a mix of 2000's soft rock. With a proper agent and a decent music manager, I think he could make something of himself.
I say give the guy a chance. Look at all the popular bands first ever albums before they were big, a lot of those sucked too. I think with some work, and some decent backup and help - he could release something that we all could like.

It's not really that bad. Kind of reminds me of some of the game soundtracks on the good ol' 16-Bit Sega Genesis. If it were a freebie, I'd rock it.

I dont think that the guitar was that bad, in fact I thought it was pretty good. I think the other parts sound like a 12 year old pulled a keyboard out of his basement and started messing with the stock sounds. That makes the song sound cheesy but with a little work I think he could make some pretty good stuff.

I would say who ever gave this a bad review doesn't know what they're talking about, it's a hell of lot better that most of the crap that is out today. Most of the stuff today is from bands who can't write a decent melody line for a song or play as well as this guy (in other words very boring!!!!!!!!!!!).
