Hands-On: Internet Explorer 8

IE8 -- Better than IE7, But Not Much Else
The most impressive thing about IE8 is its stability. Despite a delay when opening a new tab and a crash when we installed add-ons, the browser proved itself quite capable of handling mountains of intensive tasks (games, video, animations), It's hard to tell in the screen shot above, but we are streaming video from Hulu, YouTube, and Pitchfork.TV, streaming audio from MLB.com, running Pics from Digg Labs, and we have Google Street View, Gmail, and Twitter open on top of that. While the latest beta of Firefox 3.1 handles this with ease as well, Firefox 3.0 and IE7 both choked under this load.
