Hands-On: Internet Explorer 8

Let's start with the good. Fortunately, IE8 continues to improve on its security. Microsoft tweaked many of the features found in IE7 and added a few tricks of its own -- most noticeably, domain name highlighting (which makes it easier to tell if you're on a spoof or phishing site), bright red warning pages, and a private mode that prevents Web pages from tracking where you are browsing. IE8 also introduces fine-grain control over ActiveX, which was a major security problem in IE6.
