Which Netbook Is for You?

4. Acer Aspire One 10.1-inch
Price: From $349
What we like: The bigger-screen version of the Aspire One (also available in 8-9-inches) has not sacrificed any battery life -- a good four-and-a-half hours while using on the go. In addition to having the full range of ports (three USB, Memory Card Slot, Ethernet), the newest Aspire One is a good multitasker and allowed us to run video and surf the Web simultaneously with no freeze-ups or lap-burning heat-ups.
What we don't: Though we didn't experience too many typos, we felt the keyboard should be bigger for a laptop of this size. The Aspire One is fine for staying in touch via short e-mails and for surfing the Web, but we wouldn't rely on it as a laptop replacement for serious work. Meanwhile, in the "too-big" department, the longer-lasting battery (7.2 hours) is bulky and juts out from the back of the notebook. Surprisingly, it doesn't have Bluetooth, so you can forget using your wireless headphones or speakers for Skype calls or music.
Bottom line: If you can get past the ho-hum design and less-than-full-size keyboard, the Acer Aspire One is a solid, full-featured, high-performing steal for $350.

LOVE my little Acer. Since I prefer an ergonomic keyboard, the ports allow for that as well as my external hard drive. And it all fits into a large purse or briefcase.
For the price, you can't beat this little dynamo.

I just recently got one for my mom. I am using a desktop myself but am in the process of getting a netbook. Yeah, I found the ACER to be a very powerful little piece of equipment. Fast internet, great speakers and powerful mike. Only thing I didn't like was the camera. It was kinda slow. I'm sure my mom's gonna love her first ever computer. if not, it goes to my dad in KSA haha!!!

I have an acer aspire one which I purchased from Staples for $299. I bought it to use for work and now use it for everything. I also have a Sony vios and Toshiba satelite and now that I've gotten use to the keyboard it really blows the others away. I bought a larger battery on the inter net (sure it's a little larger but it also puts the keyboard a a better angle for typing) and now I don't have to be plugged in for better than hours. It also has a 160 mgb hard drive not offered currently by other laptop companies. This is truly an awesum machine!

The Acer Aspire is a great machine. It easily preforms as a desktop... I use wireless keyboard and mouse in usb right side ports, I use a seven port hub on the left port for ext. HD, CD-DVD, printer, PSP, HTC Touch, Cybershot HD Camera. I use office 2007, anydvd to rip all movies I watch to backup drives(84 now) and I watch movies on OVGUIDE. I live chat all the time, and I walk and joural as I trip through town. Smaller than a book, Can be a phone, a stereo, a DVD player, a work tool, I quake live all the time, spore, star craft, warcraft, WOW. I can hook it up to my 16:9 HD big screen and play movies off it no matter where I go. It is great for sharing ideas and info. I love my aspire and I think it is great.

I bought the Acer Aspire from Tiger Direct and had to send it back twice. Complete waste of time and resources. The hard drive siezed up each time after minimal useage. I would advise looking at the other system, or pay $300 more and get a normal sized laptop with twice the features and more reliability.

That is the most ridiculous post I have ever read that Tim say's he had to send his Aspire One back twice. I also bought mine from Tiger Direct and love the fast shipping from T G, but even more important is the satisfying quality of the Aspire One. I have no complaints at ALL! HIGH QUALITY THROUGH AND THROUGH. This computer is A1 stable, easy to type on the keyboard in my opinion because your hands do not have to travel as far, so to speak, I can type way faster on this beauty! Always up to the job and no weird problems with it, it is extremely silent, makes very little fan or hard drive noise, it is as quiet or quieter like a mouse! believe me if this thing in anyway was not a really wonderful little computer in every way I would be very irritated with and dissatisfied. I am very satisfied with my purchase and as time has gone on my faith in the reliability of this computer has only grown even more! Maybe you should park your laptop on a flat surface so it can cool itself, many people put there laptops on a bed smothered in blankets and burn up there laptops, daahhoyee?

I bought this Acer notebook. It is really junk. I had it for about 7 weeks and then it died on me and never turned back on. I used it for email and for social networking sites. It was a great buy but to have it for a short time and for it to have so many issues turned me off and now I am very upset and wouldnt recommend this notebook to anyone!!
