I didn't know anything about netbooks except what was written on a gift sheet. This system was only $250 small white & had just the basics was all I needed. The only con was that the OS was Lineux which no one had any experience with. This system only lasted 2 days. Slow startup then no startup, would not even run basic browser IE, heated up within 10min to the point where the bottom couldn't be touched wouldn't run it's own programs such as wordprocessor ect.
The interesting thing was that when the we returned it, there were 3 people in line behind us returning the same system.
I got my money back & for about $80 more including extended warrenty plan we got an HP Mini 1030NR. This is the best net book. The only con is that you can't download streaming videos but for the basics it's perfect. We just took it out of the box & it was ready picked up our network in 2 min outside such as a coffee house about 5min.This is also great if you're in school or somewhere you need to take notes. This product is so good I bought 1 for my 13 year old & myself.

Ae. I was just there yesterday and was looking at the Asus. (Asus and HP are the only 2 brands of netbooks they currently carry). I did not have a good feeling about it and also purchased the HP Mini 1030NR. It connected immediately to our wi-fi and (knock on wood) so far so good. I think it's better to go with the 10.1 inch screen anyway. Although smaller is cuter, it's more difficult for internet use.

Emily

Comments on Which Netbook Is for You?

I bought the 10 inch Asus at Best Buy in December for $350. I love it. It is the perfect travel machine. Light, fast, and user friendly.

captainoutrageous

Comments on Which Netbook Is for You?

I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE BAD REVIEWS ----
my mom got her this Eee pc small pink in color and when i used it when i visted her,,,i HAD to get one as well! mine looks more purple AND EVEN SMALLER, but point is They are great! He cites an ASUS book that is HUNDREDS of dollars more than the signature $250-300 one. Asus was the leader in this...freaking out HP and DELL and the others.

Asus is small, it has chat boards which are knowledgeable, generous with tips and enthusiastic. This article loses its credibility when it picks this one out as most expensive (well yeah. if you IGNORE the signature cheaper versions), and concentratedly smashes it.
