Affluence.org -- Facebook for Rich Folks
Dubbing itself the "exclusive organization of the world's wealthiest people," Affluence.org only lets people join if they can prove they make $300,000 a year, or have a net worth exceeding $3 million. The application process itself is no easy task; hopefuls must submit lots of personal information, which is then scrutinized to ensure that people are who they say they are. Only one out of 40 applicants is accepted. According to Affluence's founder, someone claiming to be George Clooney was rejected, if that tells you anything.
The "virtual country club" still gets about 400 to 500 new members each day, so the economy certainly hasn't affected it. Affluence.org is supported by advertisers, which include private jet rental companies and high-end watch designers. But, if you really want to join and don't have the dough, there is one other way, convincing five members to vouch for you. Seeing the profiles would probably send us into a blind rage, but you go ahead and give it a shot. [From: TCPalm]

AFFLUENCE.ORG IS DEFINITELY A SCAM!!
I have been a member of this "exclusive" membership for more than a year and have met several of its members. I joined because I have the "qualifications" to meet the standards of the membership and thought it would be a great way to expand my investment opportunities by dealing with people who I thought were in kind. Boy was I wrong!!
My interaction with these members has been such that they try to convince you that they know influential people and are riding on their coat-tails. They spout off the names of the wealthy as water flows freely from the faucet. In the end though, they do not know anyone that you may know in the circle of the wealthy. It has always been the same story - they are seeking monies, a place to live, and whatever handout they can possibly get from you.
In my attempts to do business with any of the individuals on AFFLUENCE.ORG, the fraud has been at such levels that there were attempts to take over the assets of one of my companies. I have yet to find a legitimate candidate from the organization that could qualify as "rich", let alone one that could qualify as lower-middle class. Some of these people portend to be titled individuals from whatever Court they can make up or liaisons or financiers for the wealthy, but do not be fooled, due your due diligence on these people. Thank God I did, I went to my network of influence and passed the names that I was trying to do business with and found out that the people they claimed they knew which I knew had never even heard of the individual. Very disconcerting. I have cancelled my membership to this site.
When one really sits down to think about it, why do they wealthy need an internet portal to meet each other, when if they have the funds that these people claim to have and the influence, then it should not be a problem meeting each other just by name alone - as I have been able to do most of my life.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS ORGANIZATION AND DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ANYONE CLAIMING TO BE A PART OF THIS MEMBERSHIP. IT IS A TOTAL SCAM!!
