15 Phishing Scams to Watch Out For

Parking ticket scam

In perhaps the most daring phishing scam to date, emboldened grifters in North Dakota actually hit the streets, tagging cars with fake parking tickets. The faux-tickets included a Web address and instructed the unwitting recipients to download an application from the site which the victim could, in turn, use to view a picture of their vehicle. Unbeknownst to the marks, they were actually downloading Vundo, a Trojan application which monitors computer activities. Unlike in-session, pop-up window phishing, this scam is easily detected by most anti-virus software. We haven't seen any other cases of this particular scam reported, but don't download any software recommended by anything you may find on your car window. Ever.
