T-Mobile Sidekick Tops Phone Thefts

So why is the Sidekick getting all the attention, especially considering that the phone has never been a top-five-selling phone in at least the last three years? One reason is because it uses a SIM card, making it easy to sell to someone who already has phone service. But lots of phones use SIM cards, so there must be something else, right? Apparently, thieves are drawn to it because of their "urban hipness quotient" and endorsements by stars such as rapper Snoop Dogg and NBA star Dwyane Wade. T-Mobile even sells a limited-edition Tony Hawk version of the phone, making it very clear at whom the phone is targeted.
Combine all of this with a perfect user base, and it all starts to click together. "They have the maximum ability to turn them into cash," Adrian Portlock, head of cell phone-tracking site Checkmend.com, said. "It's that young market, Internet savvy, trend-driven market where they'll buy a used cellphone, no questions asked."[From: USA Today]

You obviously want the US to go back to the old/slow way of doing business so that all your goods and services can go up a lot more in price. If you dont like cell phones, by all means dont have one. But PLEASE...no need for comments that bash progress.

I had to change the phone back to the old version for a few weeks til more people got them. I thought i was going to get robbed everytime i got a call on it.

Are they really sure it was stolen? How are we not sure they just didnt piss someone off enough with their constant chatting, texting, gaming, etc, that they didnt just take it and tossed it in the garbage?

Well one thing I learned is to never "loan" your phone to someone, I did before to an elderly woman waiting for her son to pick her up, but I did it once more at a club, and the guy just disappeared?? Other than that, dont leave your cell phone on a table while out, even with friends, because if you are bar hopping or something people change tables....always put it in your pocket if you go to the bathroom! I have a bb from atat, and for whatever reason the deductible went up to 125! Before it was 50, but with your contacts, etc its a nightmare losing a phone!
