Man to 'TwitchHike' From England to New Zealand Using Twitter

If there's one thing popular micro-blogging service Twitter is good for, it's traveling around the world. At least that's what Paul Smith, otherwise known as the Twitch Hiker, is setting out to prove. Smith plans to travel from Newcastle, England all the way to the land of Hobbits in New Zealand, solely relying on Twitter for everything from travel to accommodations.

His rules are simple: He can only accept travel and accommodation from people following him on Twitter; he can't make any plans more than three days in advance; he can only spend money on food, drink and anything that might fit in his suitcase; he must accept any offer if it is the only one received in 48 hours; and if he's unable to find a way to move on from a location within 48 hours, he loses his personal challenge and will go home.

Why would anyone attempt such a thing? "It's never been done before, so it has novelty value," Smith told Sky News Online. "What it proves is Twitter is more than just a social network -- it's a human search engine." We wish you all the best, Paul. [From: FOX News]
