Take Care When Purchasing an iPod FM Transmitter

When getting an iPod FM transmitter, look for versions that connect via the dock plug instead of the audio jack; the audio is line-level and therefore of poorer quality. Plus, if it has a cigarette lighter adapter, you'll be able to charge while it plays. Because the antenna is in the cable, extending it will get you better reception than keeping it wrapped up and close to the stereo will.
