Web Site Finds Terry Bull and Other Unfortunate Baby Names

We've seen baby names derived from text-message speak before (see below), and now the people behind thebabywebsite.com have gone through phone records in the UK and the States to find other tragic names as a cautionary tale for moms and dads. "When the parents of some of those people mentioned named their children, many probably didn't even realize the implications at the time" said a spokesman for the site. "What may be quirky and fun for a toddler might be regretted terribly when that person becomes older."

Other names on the list included Barb Dwyer, Ray Gunn, Anna Sasin, Doug Hole, dentist Les Plack, and a retired RAF airman named Stan Still. "My commanding officer used to shout 'Stan Still, get a move on' and roll about laughing," Still says. "It got hugely boring after a while." To all you parents out there, remember this before you end up naming your daughter something like Helen Back.

I used to work for a magazing printer. While putting together the cover one day, I glanced at the headline. There was a picture of a man in a suit, who had been interviewed for the magazine. The title of the article...."Dick Less Speaks" God, I felt so sorry for that man...in between laughing my butt off and showing my coworkers.....

While my brother was in medical school, he shared with me a couple of winners. In one instance, a mom had twins, but unfortunately one died. She wanted the one who lived to always remember that she was from a twin birth, and to honor the deceased twin, so they name her "TWINA", because the hospital records had the deceased baby as "TWIN A". Another time, the doctors came in to examine a woman who just delivered a baby. When the doctors asked what did she name the baby, the woman replied, "Oh, they already named the baby for me, her name is "Femalia" (Female). Oh vey...

TRUE STORY (Happened in late '80's)
One time at a retail establishment in Sudbury, MA, (a town of history- dating back to England's King Phillip.. Many folks are high achievers, upper class folks...yet have an attitude of "entitlement").
I was training a 17 year old employee, on how to do sales and returns on the register.
The consumer was asked her name and address so that the return could be done:
The response was, "I da know".
The associate tried again, and finally I intervened..and kindly stated that we want to give her the cash..I recited policy for giving large cash returns..
The woman behaved as if she was insulted and loudly spells,
" I-D-A", "space," "N-O-E!"
So If you asked me if anyone made my associates' second day a challenge, my response would be, "Ida Noe".

To the poster that use to work in Houston,
"In high school I did an internship at the ImaHogg Therapeutic School in Houston, TX. Miss Hogg was the granddaughter of the first native born governor of Texas."
She had a sister named Ura too.
As for the Mary Christmas quoted in the story, there was a Merry Christmas from the Houston area, she was a guest on the Johnny Carson Late Show once because he thought it was funny & unusual.
