New Version of Conficker Virus Can Update Itself

Just as Microsoft has decided it's done playing games, and has put a price on the head of the hackers behind Conficker, the elusive cyber-criminals have upped the ante. A new version of the malware, dubbed Conficker B++, is spreading like wildfire, thanks to a newly unplugged security hole and self-updating features.
| Yes | |
|---|---|
| No | |
| I'm not sure |
The new version allows the virus to download updates that could potentially give it new abilities and ways of spreading. It also skips the download of Antivirus XP, a fake security program that once lured victims into handing over credit card information and later became a dead giveaway of a Conficker infection.
Experts believe that older versions of the virus will not be able to automatically update to the newer version and that systems with the proper security updates from Microsoft should be safe. But that's no excuse for letting yourself get comfortable. Programs such as Conficker are dangerous, and only your own due diligence can keep you safe. So run regular scans and keep Windows, as well as your anti-virus and anti-spyware tools, up-to-date. [From: CNET]

That is what Microsoft gets for laying off 8,000 of it's own employees. Looks to me like some Microsoft employees are getting even with MS. Pissing off the people who wrote the programs for Microsoft by laying them off was a HUGE mistake on Microsoft's part.

And Pres. Obama wants to install ALL of your medical records and personal data to the virus infected internet.?? I think I will pass or will I really have a choice.?? Just think, everyone can know more about you than you do.. And even your recent new job interviewer can access that little private medical problem you really didn't want them to know about.. Are we ready for that.? Not me..

Everyone thinks a mac is the answer. It is not. I have both, and you get files that are created on a mac and may be downoadable by a pc but it wont play the same and sometimes not at all. But if I open it on the Mac it works (of course). PC's will always be the VHS compaed to Macs which are the Betamax. The macs have better quality but hardly any of your friends have them.
If you are like me and prefer windows try eacceleration.com or the same company stopsign.com. It's has caught all trojans and smaller threats before they even get in the computer. Also Macs being virus free is a myth. It's just that they're less popular so the small dick virgin nerds who create viruses get more victims with pc viruses.

AG: I also had the "Antivirus 360" virus, or malware, or whatever it was. They keep prompting you to buy a virus removal package. I got rid of it by doing a "system restore", which basically reconfigures your settings to an earlier date (preferably a date before your compter became infected). Click on start, programs, accessories, system tools, & then system restore. It will ask you to select a date, then it will do the rest, will restart, & hopefully you'll be good to go. Just remember any programs or software you may have downloaded after the date you selected, you may have to re-download. Good luck!

I am an extreme hot blood pissed-off victim of th super-virus. It hit my computer last week got me blew my top off... It cost me lot of money to repaired my computer. Whoever did made his own idea: super virus that can hit more than a million of computers is an a/hole and live down in Sorryassville cuz he can't have the children.

Kenneth.....No surprise there. If you are a criminal and want to compromise the most computers, what do you write your virus for? NOT MAC lol. That doesn't mean it wouldn't be as easy to create one for MAC...just not worth the cyber criminals' time.
Anyway...if you really know how your computer works, you not only can avoid a virus, but you can cure one if you do get one. Just be smart.

it's all bs. viruses are created by "black hat" hackers who are paid by microsoft, norton and other software companies to create viruses so that "white hats" can make money "curing" them. ie; you pay money for your anti virus/anti spyware software to the companies who make the viruses and have the cure for them! it's a never ending cycle so that they'll always have business. trust me it's been going on for a long time.
let's see i own four computers that are online 3 pc's and a macintosh. guess what? never had any trouble with ANY of them! you know why? because I delete all anti virus software off of them when they are new, don't use any protection other than a firewall (that and i erase my steps) and have never, I repeat never had a problem. shall I continue? it's because ANTI virus softwares are programmed to ATTRACT and ALLOW viruses into your OS when they are not being used. AKA not being paid for. and they are even programmed to allow certain viruses to pass through when they are!, to make sure that you keep in line and continue to pay. It's a scare tactic system that works and will continue to work because people are idiots and don't know any better.
yours truly,
a hacker,
red white or black it's all the same anymore

If authorities dealt with these lowlifes effectively they could end this problem. First offense they lose one finger. Second offense, two fingers. If they're stupid enough to go for a third offense, off come three more. Now they'd be down to four digits. Think they'd try it again?

I have a virus or something that has Hijacked my Internet Explorer. It shut off show pictues on the tools (advanced tab) and seems to be opening random unsolicited pages. Also my McAfee seems to not be updating either. I suspect the virus has loaded it self into the Registery any ideas on getting rid of it?
luvmyprooutlawFeb 26th 2009 10:57PM
I am seriously think a mac next time I get a computer. I refuse to buy anything with Vista and it's a good thing my AVG catches all these nasty viruses or my computer would be screwed!
