Facebook Admits Defeat, Retracts Terms of Service
Yesterday, Facebook ruffled the feathers on many of its users by issuing a new Terms of Service, or TOS, which some believed gave the site permission to use any content -- profiles, status updates, commentary -- posted on the site perpetually (even if Facebook members deleted their profiles and left the site). Facing a PR backlash of epic proportions, Facebook has now rather publicly reverted to its old TOS.| MySpace | |

Logging onto your profile this morning shows the following message:
Over the past few days, we have received a lot of feedback about the new terms we posted two weeks ago. Because of this response, we have decided to return to our previous Terms of Use while we resolve the issues that people have raised. For more information, visit the Facebook Blog. It's hardly an apology, making it sound like the company has no idea why anyone would be upset about handing over the rights to their photos forever, but people, of course, were mad. Gossip blogger Perez Hilton isn't cutting the company or its founder Mark Zuckerberg any slack, saying that "Facebook still sucks" and that MySpace is "so much more respectful" -- um, we're not entirely sure of that.
If you want to share your thoughts on what should be in the new terms, check out our group Facebook Bill of Rights and Responsibilities.
Meanwhile, another critic, Ed Champion, seems to be back on speaking terms with the social networking site, but that may not last long, as Zuckerberg is indicating that another change is coming in a few weeks. Surely, the site won't try to push that change won't through quite so quietly.
Still wondering what all this means? Well, if you're one of the few hold-outs who hasn't yet joined Facebook, or just want to know how to maximize your social-networking experience, then check out our 25 tips and tricks for Facebook, which start after clicking the 'Next' button below. MySpace sux. To many ads and creepy people on there. Face book has hooked me up into a network where I have communicated with old friends from 20 years ago that I never thought I would talk to again. Myspace's network is to general. FACEBOOK ROCKS!!

I don't know about Facebook, but MySpace does keep all of your data forever. I have a photo on my profile right now, the source of which was from my photo album. I deleted it and the album, but the photo is still on my profile. That means the photo is still on the MySpace servers somewhere.
BTW... +1 on the infowars.com site.

after deleting did you empty the cache on you machine? could be that old cache still has picture in it not myspace. if it remains after clearing cache (and associated cookies) ... then myspace probably has retained somehow ... bring it to their attention then. i dont use either, but i do know that i sometimes have web pages with old info untill i clear cache etc (sometime old data keeps me from using pages correctly)..

I have an account with both sites and I prefer MySpace. I find facebook to be a little hard to navigate at times.

I find there to be very little, or no, annonymity with Facebook. I like MySpace for more privacy of my information.

If you continue to use Facebook, do so at your own risk as you have been warned of their intentions.

Facebook is boring and kinda gay. plus a lot of viruses and spyware going around. ILL STICK BY MYSPACE FOREVER!!
KbryceFeb 19th 2009 10:53AM
Myspace is ten times as bad as facebook about viruses.
SunshineFeb 18th 2009 4:16PM
I prefer Facebook. And it's good for privacy. Myspace is always having errors and adding new features, then deleting them, then adding them again. And Myspace profiles are always getting hacked into.

im a teenager with an older brother in college. Ive had a myspace since i was about 13, and i was always told the unwritten rules included highschool kids have myspace, college kids have facebook.. so dealt with myspace.. the slowness, the downed servers, the spam, the virus', getting my account stolen, the horrible excuses for apps and finally decided to get a facebook... FACEBOOK IS MUCH BETTER, everything happens in real time..not in 20 minutes from now, and its is so much simpler, nothing to customize, just simple 'add this' buttons
so yea, if you have a myspace, and have never tried facebook, i would encourage you to switch

DISAGREE STRONGLY - I have used computers for over 25 years - even I could not find anything useful or easy about facebook - expecially navigating around. much less searching for people/networking.
chuckFeb 19th 2009 6:50PM
"I have used computers for over 25 years"
congrats but that has nothing to do with the issue at hand there are people who have been driving cars for 60 years and suddenly forget where the brake pedal is. great arguement.

pitbullstewFeb 18th 2009 4:38PM
I pulled my page down, I am not interested in this sort of conduct by anyone, even though its free they have to get something out of it, I dont like it that they know who is on my email lists, and besides it'll drive my ex nuts to see me gone from there, she never contacted me anyways, her and her puke girlie man too!

Are you kidding me? These are the idiots the former myspacers try to avoid. Are your parents aware you have no idea how to read or write? I think that's a much more important concern in your life right now. Wow - this is really pathetic.
ronFeb 18th 2009 4:48PM
i like yahoo 360, but nobody is on it anymore, just a lot of old profiles
Cassandra LeeFeb 18th 2009 4:53PM
