Over 10% of Americans Updating Status Online on Facebook, Twitter

Here's a pretty staggering statistic: the number of Internet-connected adults in the US who updated their status online using Twitter, Facebook, or any other social networking site nearly doubled during the second half of 2008. The number rose to 11-percent in December, up from 6-percent in May.

Pew Internet and American Life Project conducted the survey and found that the median age for Twitter users is 31 years old, followed by 27 years old for MySpace, 26 for Facebook, and 40 for LinkedIn. It noted that 13-percent of those surveyed said they have created a blog at some point in their online lives.

Is this all simply a sign of the times, or does it represent a more permanent cultural evolution? Go Twitter about it -- we'll follow your feed. [From: Yahoo!]
