It actually borders on stupid. I do agree that the dad should not have posted the video of his son sedated. It just shows poor judgement. I have three kids of my own and would never do that to them. The video has ZERO humor. My children went to their dentist from the time their first teeth came in. When they had to have teeth cleaned or anything else, most children were lightly sedated. When the dentist finished his work, children were assigned to a dental assistant and the dental assistant would stay with the child until they were awake and COMPLETELY out of effects of anestheia. The dentist came out to see us and told us what had been done, how children's teeth, gums, etc were doing and what needed to be done and when to make the next appointment. By the time children are reunited with their parents ALL effects were gone. THIS IS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE DONE. This is exploiting a child as far as I'm concerned.

Tabby

Comments on Dentist-Drugged YouTube Kid's Dad Talks to the WSJ

My two kids are never sedated for dental visits. That would be HORRIBLE. Why would they need sedation for a simple cleaning? That's way over-the-top. I also do not leave the room when my kids are being worked on. If they are concerned about anything, I am there to comfort them. The sensations were new at age 2, and they did need a hand holding, but now there are no issues. Drug my kids? never.

WendyMD

Comments on Dentist-Drugged YouTube Kid's Dad Talks to the WSJ

That child should have been kept longer at the dentist office. The father is lucky his little boy didn`t do anything to harm his self.If you listen to the child he actually begging for help from the drug induced feelings he is having.I think mom should bring her son to the dentist with a trusted aunt or grandma next time. There`s nothing funny about a child having hallucinations in the back seat of a car and his own father recording it.I think it`s abuse.

Janet Gunning

Comments on Dentist-Drugged YouTube Kid's Dad Talks to the WSJ

Yeh, it totally was abuse.....

Seriously, are you kidding?

SBLEGACY

Comments on Dentist-Drugged YouTube Kid's Dad Talks to the WSJ

Agree 1000%

John

Comments on Dentist-Drugged YouTube Kid's Dad Talks to the WSJ

You have to calm down. This in no way constitutes abuse. The father was obviously paying attention to his son, and the kid never came close to harming HIMself or anyone else. I mean the kid was legally drugged and just needed to work it out of his system. He didn't film it with the intent of showing it, he was just filming his son acting goofy. This means that the dentist had to CUT the teeth out. I'm sure having the child sedated was much easier on him than seeing a scapel coming at his face.My daughter was sedated when she was a child to have teeth removed after she broke them jumping rope. It is less tramatic for the child. I see nothing wrong with this video. The child is excited because he is now famous. People are such hypocrites! I bet most parents have embarassing photos and videos of their kids they like to pull out when friends and love interest come over!

Cherie

Comments on Dentist-Drugged YouTube Kid's Dad Talks to the WSJ

Man get a life. I assure you, he would not have been released still heavily sedaTED. hOW DO WE KNOW seriously what part of this may just be a kid messing with his dad although of course feeling some effects.
