Dentist-Drugged YouTube Kid's Dad Talks to the WSJ
Most of you have seen it, and many of you that have are probably still laughing. It's the video of eight-year-old David DeVore's now-famous tirade on the way back from the dentist, after being sedated. Simply put, it is one of the funniest things we have ever seen.
On young David DeVore's ride home from having a tooth pulled, the heavily sedated youngster began spazzing out (while his father filmed). The video was first posted on Facebook, then on YouTube, and has since garnered more than 7 million views since (and inspired the inevitable remix).
Some party-poopers, however, have called the video exploitive ("Don't you see you're exposing your own kid to public humiliation," commented one YouTuber). We obviously assume that these people were born without a funny bone and are hell-bent on destroying everyone else's good time.
Defending himself in an interview with the Wall St Journal, David's dad (also named David), said: "I felt bad doing it but I had tears coming out of my eyes after it was over because it was just hilarious." In the same WSJ piece, young David (who was called in from playing to talk on the phone with the reporter) said he was "excited" about the whole thing.
We at Switched have a very simple message to David Jr. and Sr.: Thank you! [From: Wall Street Journal]
YouTubes Funniest Kids
'I Don't Like You, Mommy'
Check out the little booger who explains to his "Mommy" that, while he does love her, he only likes her sometimes. Namely, when she's giving him cookies. Give the kid some points for honesty.
Laughing Baby
While not a freak-out in the traditional sense, this baby's astronomical level of cheerfulness would qualify as freaky, if it weren't so dang cute. Anybody who's watched this video and not cracked a smile is officially soulless.
Kid Breaks Gameboy
This man-child, unhappy with the responsiveness of his Game Boy, gets up and dashes it against the sidewalk. He is above pictured with said device's remains.
Dizzy Kid
This tot's parents gave him a thorough spinning session on a piece of playground equipment, leaving the toddler to weave around the playground like a man drunk. Until he slams into a swing set, that is. Whoops!
'Charlie Bit Me!'
This adorable pair of British brothers seem to be a picture of sibling harmony until the younger (the bald one) gives his big brother a healthy chomp on the finger. While the angry German gamer proved that a German accent makes tantrums even scarier, Charlie's brother proves that a proper English accent makes whining sound like a civil complaint.
Kiddo on Laughing Gas
In yet another installment of 'Drugged-Out Kids on Their Way Home From the Dentist,' this young man speaks incoherently and struggles to walk a straight line while his dad mans the camera. Somehow, we don't think this kid's quasi-celebrity for drug-addled behavior bodes well for his future.
The Angry German
When his computer doesn't load his video game quickly enough, this kid freaks out and proves once and for all that American children do not have a monopoly on obnoxiousness. Plus, hollering is far scarier in German.
The Foul-Mouthed Gamer
We're not sure if this guy technically qualifies as a "kid" or not, but -- judging from his behavior -- his social development halted around the age of two. As he gets increasingly frustrated with his Xbox game, the brat unleashes a chain of cuss words that would make a sailor blush.
The Red-Headed Spazzer
Participating in what seems to be be a Sunday School sing-along, this little fellow has as much fire in his gut as he does on his head. While the class demurely sings, he jumps, spins around and yelps gibberish to his heart's delight. The movie 'Problem Child' may or may not have been based on this young man's story.
Puppets Are Scary
We have to admit that puppets are a little creepy. That being said, nobody around here has ever freaked out upon seeing them like this little guy does as he, screaming, jumps and twists around in his seat.

I thought it was funny. Of course there were two times when he was a bit distressed and I felt sorry for him, but honestly, the Dad didn't drug the child to make a video. He just documented what happened as a result. My son would think it was hilarious if it had been him. On the video, I hear a dopey sweet kid and a Dad that found it amusing, but was also very reassuring when his little guy sounded worried. Thanks for sharing!

What's disturbing is that the dad refers to how his son must "feel good" or something to that effect. I cringed. The kid just had oral surgery, is woozy and dad tells him he feels good. I hope the boy doesn't think he has to feel woozy to feel good. What a jerk he is.

OMG you hypocritical people get off yor soap boxes and get a life. It was not a bad video. It's called creating memories, Something to laugh about when he is 21. David Sr is Stupid and you can't fix stupid. David Sr is so Stupid that he does not realize he is the parent and should not use his son to gleam attention or game 15 minutes of fame. Kinda llike the parents of chantel who for all purposes let their daughter get impregnated by a 13 year old...like they started having sex when the kid was 12. Amazing examples of parenting hahahahahah I gotta kid hahahah ...no sense of responsility hahahahahah

If a family member choses to video something like this, it should remain within the family. What a jerk of a father. But don't worry... his kid will pay him back one day.
jonFeb 15th 2009 6:02PM
yea by sitting with his pops watching the video and dieing laughing.....you people act like your parents never embarassed you...or did they and you "payed them back"

It was a little boring, but everyone who's complaining about it are lame and and have thorny sticks up their butts about every little thing you can imagine. You all need to get over it already. It's not that big of a deal.

Seriously, folks. Give this kid an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a Screen Actor's Guild award, and a Tony, then send him to Broadway where he can make a killing off all you poor suckers who feel sorry for him!
Award for best acting my a child: this kid!
Really, lighten up. I bet this kid is the class clown at school and hams it up at home too. The drugs he may have had only brought out the real nature of his personality (as most drugs do)
courtneyFeb 14th 2009 10:59PM
this is funny lighten up losers ....this kid is gonna look back and be like yeah that was me I was famous for like 3 weeks .....not OMG my dad is an abuser ...

This video is hilarous whats wrong with you people. I had the same procedure done to me when i was a kid. The only thing i remember was coming too freaking out thinking my nose was gone lol. My dad had to convince it was still there because I was still breathing. To this day it still comes up in conversation once in a while and we all laugh about it.
MamabellaMar 7th 2009 8:17AM
I usually have a good sense of humor but I really didn't think this was funny. I thought it was kind of scary. I felt sorry for the kid. He was confused and scared. I can't believe his dad said "it feels good". Maybe his dad was trying to make him feel better that way but I would've said something like, don't worry it's the medicine but you'll feel normal again in a few minutes. Who was driving?
reesyOct 29th 2010 11:15PM
wow, and this is funny how? Who cares if the dad posted it on youtube, all I'm saying is that this is stupid and sooo not funny.
