Creepiest Ads on the Web

Levi's 501 Unbutton Your Beast: We've seen some elaborate and interactive advertisements that bomb for a number of reasons, but the Levi's 501 "Unbutton Your Beast" campaign is without a doubt one of the more obscene legitimate attempts we've seen. The idea was that guys could log onto the site and create personalized e-cards featuring their very own crotch "beast." The e-cards depicted a pair of jeans that unzip to reveal the edgy, talking monster of choice. Guys could choose from such brilliant characters as Trout Troutman (a fish), Paul the Pincher (we're guessing he's a weasel), Sock Nasty (an irreverent sock), and Cookie the Cougar (a sultry-voiced alien with sharp teeth and a woman's hat). Here at Switched, we're always fans of a little innuendo but this isn't even trying. The campaign was eventually pulled due to negative response around the Web and we hope the ad creatives opt to keep it in their pants next time.
