Essentially, this goes back to the old "which came first, the chicken or the egg" question. The girls that spend the most time rehashing their individual problems and axieties are more depressed... is it the fact they are more depressed that they discuss this more often or is it the discussing itself that increases depression?
This also goes into areas such as drug use. Do the drugs cause the problems or do the problems cause the drug use?
