Why not just remove the hard drive, demagnetize it, and smash it.

It takes a stronger magnet than you'd think to securely erase data. "Smashing" an HDD (3.5" at least) isn't as easy as it sounds either. Personally, I use DBAN before I discard any old drives.

Can anyone help me? I use AOL ar my home page and when I click on some things to read a blank screen pop's up. At the top of this page it says SCREEN NAME SERVICES.
This click screen name service flashes many times and then it stops with the note saying, the service you are trying to reach is tempoarily unavailable please try Again. I click the again and then the page I'm tryiing to read pops up.
What do I do to get this screen name service to stop popping up?

Get rid of AOL! Another solution is to delete (use remove programs function) AOL totally .. then reinstall as if you were loading your account onto a new machine.

The same thing happens to me and all it means is that the server to that particular page is full of people reading it. As soon as someone gets off, you can get on. Just keep hitting "Retry" and it will eventually get in, or click off and go back to it later when it's not so busy.
My problem is that when I sign in on the Sign-On screen, I have my name and password saved, so it lets me through to the next screen, but a small box pops up and tells me I have an INVALID PASSWORD so I can't sign on the computer, and I have to re-enter my password. So I do, with the exact thing that was on the previous screen, and then it lets me sign on! What's going on? Anybody got a clue?

The problem with that "solution" is that it presupposes that your computer is working well enough to download or use a program at all. Sorry, the best way is to remove the hard drive physically and aim a blowtorch at it for about 5 minutes. "Smashing" it will not delete the data, but only make it a little bit harder for a forensic computer analyst to get at it.
