BTW, Microsoft had to step up its schedule for releasing Windows due to a very little known product that was shown at the computer electronics show the following year. A young man in Alabama had developed a Mac look-alike GUI that ran under MetaWINDOWS by Metagraphics on the IBM PC. Both Bill Gates and Steve Jobs were floored by it. Unfortunately Bill had better marketing and decided to release an inferior, buggy product. Windows 1.0 may have hit the scene in 1985, but it wasn't until the release of Windows 3.0 in 1990 that Windows became a popular and viable operating system alternative. Before that barely anyone used Windows, I myself stuck primarily with DOS until the release of Windows 95.

I didn't have my facts mixed up, was simply working by a different standard.
