Best of the Web This Week
This week, the Internet turned its collective attention to the coronation of the U.S.'s new - YouTube's best Obama impersonator, Alphacat, swore himself in, and he didn't even have to deal with a Chief Justice messing up the words.
- Aretha Franklin's hat turned into hot, sequined viralness, and ended up photoshopped onto Ben Franklin's dome.
- Urlesque blogger Lindsey took to the streets
in D.C. to document the best Obama merch getting hawked on the street.
- A Japanese travel agent offered advice to travelers coming to America..."In general, Americans consider it impolite to discuss politics. However, this January Obama will become the new president, and many people are excited! If they ask you what you think of him, a safe answer is [English] "Obama is really cool."
But the Internet wasn't all Obama-crazed. We still kept covering the usual weirdness:
- Whoopi Goldberg got a scary new web-series called Stream, which freaked us the f*ck out. Though I think that's the point.

- We premiered a new feature called catablogging, which will bring you the most useless and entertaining items from bizarre catalogues. Then we'll blog about them. Thus the name. Has nothing to do with cats. (Thank goodness). First up...OrientalTrading.com
- Speaking of hustlers trying to profit off historical events, the internet got flooded with Chelsey "Sully" Sullenberger t-shirts, hats, and coffee mugs. He must be so proud.
- This story from Australia involving a missed connection and a men's tuxedo jacket allowed us to write the webbiest headline ever conceived...Viral Marketing FAIL.
