Is Your New Neighborhood Safe? These Web Sites Help 2

SpotCrime.com

An integrated crime statistic and mapping site, SpotCrime.com asks users for an address and then delivers the exact locations of crimes reported within a designated radius, and between designated dates. While the Web site's aesthetics are utilitarian at best, its functionality is strong. Giving different graphics to different sorts of offenses (cartoonish fists represent assault, and burglars robbery), SpotCrime's mapping layout is among the best we've seen. And, while the site's records do not seem to be complete (we could think of several high-profile shootings in one town that are not listed), the statistics that are listed do seem to give a solid overview of a specific neighborhood's safety.
