Ford Includes Massage Technology in New Taurus

Ford is on a mission. The mission, as most of you may have guessed, is to completely reverse the effects of producing sub-par, environmentally inefficient, technologically challenged automobiles for decades. It seems the prospect of going bankrupt has finally inspired Ford to give customers what they really want (besides a "made in America" sticker).

The new Ford Taurus is a perfect example of Ford's new-found dedication to good looks and fun toys. The reinvented flagship is back, boasting enough high-tech amenities to make us squeal(softly) with delight. Here are some of the gadgets you'll see/feel in the new Taurus, if you can manage to take your eyes off Toyota and Honda for a moment.

  • Sync. A voice activated communications/entertainment system you've probably already heard of.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control. Adjusts your speed to that of the car in front of you.
  • Collision warning with Brake Support. Warns you of sudden stops ahead.
  • Adjusts airbag deployment speeds to maximize protection for different-sized people.
  • Blind spot assistance. Alerts you to cars in your blind spot in corresponding rear-view mirror.
  • Self opening gas tank.
  • Back/butt massager... Sweet!
Though it is nice to see an American car company step up its tech game, though we would like to hear more about reliability and fuel economy in the near future. Then we can really start celebrating. [From: Wired]
