Speaker Of The House, Nancy Pelosi, Rickrolls America
Even if you don't agree with her politics, you must admit Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has a sense of humor. To celebrate the launch of the U.S. Congress' YouTube channels for the House and Senate, Pelosi posted a video of her cats roaming around her Capitol office, playing with her gavel, and enjoying the view. That alone works well enough for us.
That she Rickrolls us halfway through the video is the piece de résistance. It's a nice nod toward the Web 2.0, social networking, tongue-in-cheek, spoofing, smirking, online crowd that funnels easily half their energy into viewing and contributing content to such sites as FailBlog, FailDogs, I Can Has Cheez Burger, and others.
What does it mean to be Rickroll'd? It's a basic bait-and-switch gag, bouncing around the Interwebs in many, many forms. Typically a viewer or reader is provided with a link to a Web site claiming to have some important information, something relevant to the serious topic at hand. The gotcha moment comes when you're presented with the video from Rick Astley's 1987 release "Never Gonna Give You Up." The use of Rickrolling is increasing, even crossing over into real-life situations.
The House of Representatives' YouTube channel can be found at www.youtube.com/househub and the Senate's at www.youtube.com/senatehub. The White House also maintains a video welcome, although it's not quite as sophisticated as Congress'.
Welcome, Speaker Pelosi. We've been waiting for you. [From: Youtube]

Yeah, San Fran Nan, come on in...we've been "waiting" for you...with a baseball bat and a can of mace. Tell us all, if you will, how many of the "100 bills in 100 days" you've passed since all you Libs stormed back into the Congress two years ago. Wait, I'll do it. NONE. Nada. Ziltch. Not a damn one. Although you and your partners in crime have made some lofty promises, you and the lazy ass Democreep Congress haven't done a damn thing since the 2006 midterm except campaign for our new "king", Lord Obama the All Knowing. What a surprise it will be when the great king Obama runs this country into the ground with more tax and spend Democrat nonsense and appeasement policies for all the bad guys with the towels on thier heads. Won't it be fun trying to come up with the billions and billions of dollars that King Obama wants to spend to "put America back to work"? Yeah, just wait until we're all paying MUCH more tax than we are now to fund King Obama's "new" entitlement programs and to help him pay back his rich buddies who bought the White House for him. Won't that be GREAT?

I'm still trying to find the humor...as I always do with Dems...

What the hell was this? This was the lamest attempt at being funny ever. Pelosi is a loser.

Love the cats AND the Rick roll !
For those of you complaining that Pelosi should "do her job" -- haven't YOU ever goofed off at work ?? Come on, how long could it
have taken to make that video ? Lighten up ! A little humour is what we all could use now. And for those tighty-righties complaining about how horrible things will be now that Democrats are in power...do you really LIKE where our country and economy are at right now ? Oh, and one more thing: "DEMOCRATS -- THE PEOPLE WHO BROUGHT YOU THE SURPLUS" !!!! Now please shut the bleep up !!

They get payed good money and the have better things to do. If you have this much time on your hands at work then your boss should keep an eye on you. Get a life. I pay their salaries KID. Hope you like the time and your money they are wasting.

Georgia,
I'm sorry if my comments disturbed you. I enjoyed the video mainly because I like cats. I also felt the video "humanized" a government
employee. Yes, she gets paid good money and has many things to
do. And my taxes have gone to the government for nearly 40 years.
However, I also know that everyone needs a little down time and levity
during their work day. We don't know, she may have made this video
on a non-workday. And please don't tell me to Get A Life. I have a great one. :-D

I don't get it -- the cats were way more interesting than the "singer." Why tack that tacky short clip onto the video of those gorgeous cats. Oh well, back to www.icanhascheezburger.com.
GeorgiaJan 17th 2009 4:47AM
Just plain stupid kid games. They have better things to do than this stuff.

There has got to be a way to get rid of Nancy Botox Pelosi, what a piece of work!
