Oneriot: a New Take on the Social Search Engine

Salmonella and peanut butter: two great tastes that taste great together! Well, not really. But Oneriot, a fancy new "social search engine" that tracks Web surfers' ever ebbing and flowing interests, has elevated the topic to "raging" status since Sunday morning, indicating that over two million people are freaking the freak out about the prospect of being poisoned by their PB & J (unsurprisingly, the outbreak of conversation comes days after a distributor based in Ohio recalled two brands of its peanut butter after an open container tested positive for salmonella bacteria).

As is the case with other search engines (read: Google), Oneriot keeps a running record of the contents of the Internet. According to the company, however, "unlike other search engines, we prioritize that information based on its current popularity with our community." The idea is that it's providing users with the freshest, most relevant information on the Internets.

Hive mind FTW. [From: Oneriot]
