'Meta-Blog' Posts Best Albums of 2008, and Streams Them for Free

Thanks to blogs, music geeks can now not only hear about the blogging community's top 50 albums of 2008, but actually hear the top 50 albums of 2008, we learned from ReadWriteWeb.

Over the course of 2008, the folks at Hype Machine -- a sort of musical meta-blog -- tracked and compiled posts from hundreds of music blogs to come up with the Music Blog Zeitgeist, a three-headed list of 2008's most blogged about artists, albums and songs. Most intriguingly, this egalitarian list offers the opportunity to listen to every featured album in its entirety. If you've heard about the rough-hewn country soul of the Drive-By Truckers, but haven't yet had a chance to check them out, you can now ease on over to the Zeitgeist, and give #47 a spin. Same goes for Of Montreal (#39), the Black Keys (#33) or Lykke Li (#35).

At present, only places 50 through 31 have been published, but the Hype Machinists will be revealing an additional ten listings each of the next three days, winding up with the top 10 on Friday. To our estimation, that's a whole lot of time to spend with some free, enticing music.
Wish us luck getting any work done this week. [From: Hype Machine via ReadWriteWeb]
