MobileMe
It's not often that Steve Jobs apologizes for an Apple product, but he did for MobileMe, the company's subscription-based online service and software. Apple (re)launched the service at WWDC 2008 in July, aimed at giving Mac, Windows, and iPhone users a way to access and manage their data (e-mails, contact lists, to-do lists, etc) from anywhere. But the software was buggy: Two weeks after the launch of MobileMe, roughly 20,000 members were unable to access their e-mail through MobileMe. In an internal e-mail sent to his employees, Jobs admitted that MobileMe was rushed out the door and not up to Apple's usual standards. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that Apple would offer subscribers another 60 days of free use, giving the company time to clean up its act. Which, to its credit, it did.
