Top Tech Flops of 2008 2

CNN Hologram
Anyone who watched this year's election coverage on CNN was in for something a bit unexpected: Namely, the "hologram" technology that the network unveiled. According to CNN, it was real "hologram" technology that beamed a CNN correspondent from Chicago to the press center in New York, where Wolf Blitzer could talk to her live and in (holographic) person. Unfortunately, nothing about the tech made logistical sense: Rather than show viewers the scene in Chicago (as would have been the case with a regular video teleconference), the holograms just proved gimmicky, distracting, and awkward -- on one of the biggest nights in the country's history, no less.
