Man Uses YouTube to Search for Package Bandit

Romeo Roque, who lives in the Northwood neighborhood in the middle of Silicon Valley, set up a video camera to capture the postal bandit in the act – and the resulting clip seems to do just that. Now, it's up to the San Jose police – and you – to help identify the culprit.
Roque posted the video clip to YouTube, showing a strawberry-blonde-haired woman rifling through a bait package he left on his doorstep. The police say this takes away the element of surprise they may have in pursuing the thief since she herself may see the clip and either cease her evil ways or at least move on to a less technically inclined homeowner. However, Roque is hoping that with all the eyeballs trained on YouTube, someone out there will recognize her and report her to the local precinct.
So far she's made off with video games, motorcycle parts and general mail – and it's that last bit that has Roque most concerned. "I got really worried," Roque told the San Jose Mercury News, since some of the mail could contain sensitive personal information and put him at risk of identify theft.
The video clip shows the woman scoping out Roque's home and a neighbor's front porch, then approaching his door with an empty white bag. When she leaves his doorstep her bag is full. She even can be seen with a pair of scissors – we assume for opening packages.
Consumer electronics companies have long been touting video cameras and IP cameras as good solutions for home security. While it seems Roque didn't set up an IP camera that could provide him with a live video feed of his front door, we still applaud him for capturing the clip and using some of that Web 2.0 magic to try to bring a little justice to his neighborhood. I think it was a good idea to use Youtube to try and catch this theif but he should've had the police in the house and when they saw her take the packages then they could come out of the house and arrest her ass. If he would've gotten the Police involved on his plan then I'm sure they would've worked with him to catch her.
