For the videophile, a Netflix subscription

If you have a movie buff on your list, brush them up on Fellini with a subscription to Netflix. For $4.99 a month, the online DVD rental site will ship your recipient the top three movies or TV shows of his or her choice (selected by adding movies to a 'queue'). After intense scrutiny of plot, composition, and dialogue, he or she can pop the DVD back in the mail (in a prepaid envelope) and the service will send the next one in his or her queue. As an added bonus, Netflix now allows subscribers to ditch DVDs altogether and instead instantly stream an enormous library of movies and shows on a growing number of devices: from PCs and Macs to Xbox 360, TiVo, and even some Blu-ray players. Plans range from $4.99 (one at a time) up to $16.99/month (three at a time) or you can purchase a full year's subscription.
