12 Innovations Porn Has Brought to Technology

Like it or not, but every major media format in the world has only been successful because of the embrace of the pornography industry. VHS over Betamax, Blu-ray over HD DVD, and, of course, the explosion of the Internet.
Seriously, you can thank porn for not only for the ubiquity of the 'Net, but also for many of the technologies that you've come to take for granted (though not all of them nice). PC World has collected a list of 12 things that you can thank porn for. Everything from online payment systems and live video chat to spyware and spam is credited as being popularized by pornography companies.
The speed of broadband adoption and the future of 3G service is also laid at the feed of the virtual sex trade. Check out the read link for the complete list of 12 things, both naughty and nice that porn brought us. From: PC World]

Perhaps Mr. Obrien should go peddle his porn philosphy some place else. As a woman, I find it offensive and anti-female, and a hate crime against women. Porn is a BILLION $$ industry that exploits women for $$ and kills their soul and bodies with drugs. Spare me your idiotic excuses for porn. It is a crime and should be treated as such. It rots the soul and causes mental illness.
Shame on you Mr. Obrien; perhaps you should to Playboy and spew your lies.

No time to waste crying about it. Sometime truths hurt, and nothing can be done about it.
But there certainly is a hugely successful industry out there. The thing to do is find a better way to tax pornography, and it's associated businesses. There's an economic down turn going on, porn and sex could help revive a sagging economy eh... Thanks for the idea Mara!
